The Girl on the Train

The film invokes the idea of a noir thriller, but as something on which to hang endless voice-over reflections, primarily on romance, story creation and the knowability or otherwise of other people - sometimes banal and cliched, sometimes somewhat less so. Voice-over also tells us mostly what the film doesn't really show us, which is a big proportion of the narrative, such as it is. Didn't have much impact for me, but not utterly without interest. The score felt incongruous.

Boring.

I think the twist is impactful. What poses as a passionate love story turns out to be quite the opposite.
