Trauma

Recently watched a movie where an old man goes on a trip to reconnect with his abandoned son. Despite a paltry budget it had strengths (music). Felt very much like they were trying to make a movie for the sake of making one. I'm ok with all that, however, there was eventually a love interest added and it reeked of Hollywood storytelling so much that I began to question the entire endeavor, and life itself. Anyways, I don't do that with gialli. I know why they're being made and I want to partake.

This Spanish Giallo is not that stylish, but it benefits from a nice lakeside location which could have been utilized even more. The mystery is pretty obvious, but the script leaves enough questions unanswered to allow different interpretations or at least leaves you wonder. Klimovsky’s direction is serviceable and the murder scenes are graphic, but follow the same pattern. There’s also a lot of nudity as most actresses undress at one point or another.

This might be the dullest looking Giallo I've seen and it also featured some questionable musical choices. The kills weren't that good and for every decent throat wound, there would be a terrible one right after. By the hour mark, I was watching the clock as much as I was watching the movie. I guessed the killer ten minutes in for what it's worth.
