Revamped Collection Views and More Fixes for 31 Aug 2026
We're happy to announce a great new feature, and a bunch of bug fixes, for the last day of August, 2026. Please check out the changes below. Thanks to everyone who's helped us by spotting problems!
Collections: New Views
Recently, we updated the way Ratings are displayed, with four revamped views (Grid, Compact, List, and Database). Now, we’ve extended those same views to Collections.

Previously, from the (non-database) Collection page, you could only filter on year and genre, but now we’ve extended complete filtering across the views.
This is part of a larger effort to bring some consistency to the experience of using Criticker! We hope you like it, but as always, please let us know if there are any issues!
Bug Fixes
Films wrongly attributed to former countries - Someone pointed out that there are a lot of more recent films in our database whose country is listed as "Korea". But any film produced after 1948 should rightly be attributed to either South or North Korea. That's been cleaned up!
Ratings DB view is missing Batch Edit - We introduced the DB View to the new Ratings page in the last release of bug fixes. But we neglected to include the ability to Batch Edit ratings from the new view. That’s been added again now!

Saving filter saves the status of PSI regen - We allow you to regenerate PSIs on a subset of films from the Film Database. The problem is that, when you’ve done that, we were including an “rgn” argument … which didn’t do much except for disabling you from requesting another regen.
We’ve handled this both by stripping any “rgn” arguments from saved filters, and by no longer including such arguments in the first place. Thanks for this great catch!
There's no subscriber email - A bug in the code was causing sponsor emails to not be sent after processing a new sponsor’s initials tasks.
Collections filter preference not persisting - There was an issue where a user’s preference for filtering collections might be overwritten after adding a title to a new collection. We’ve solved this by refreshing the page when the title in question is added to a new collection. That allows the filtering preference to persist.
HTML Export has wrong columns - On the HTML export of your ratings, we had the header columns a little out-of-order. They’ve been straightened out.
Also, we've published a list of the Ten Most Polarizing Romance Films of All Time. Does your favorite (or maybe least favorite) make the list? Find out which ten films are most likely to make lovebirds quarrel!
