Updates and Fixes for 12 October, 2026

Published 12 Oct 2026

We have just released a big batch of new updates and bug fixes to Criticker, including a couple which improve the Filmmaker Page updates introduced in the last go-around.

If you've taken the time to submit any bugs, or file any enhancement reports, it's much appreciated! Thanks again, and without further ado, let's get into the changes.

Enhancements

Separate Rated from Unrated Titles on Filmmaker Pages

In the previous batch of updates, we introduced a bunch of new views, filtering options, and sorts to the Filmmaker Information page. While it worked as expected, there was one aspect of the old page which people missed.

Before, we automatically split up the list of the filmmaker’s titles between those you had rated, and those you had not. That default “split” was removed in the update… but has now been restored. Restored and improved, if you ask us!

Can you guess whose Information Page this is?

Search for filmmakers using IMDb ID

It’s not loudly advertised anywhere, but we’ve long offered the ability to search on titles by using their IMDB IDs. We’ve now expanded that same ability to people. Just search on the nm####### string… such as “nm0603402” for Jeanne Moreau. Thanks to BadCosmonaut for suggesting this one!

Bug Fixes

Clicking on user's rating loads your own - Before, if you were on someone else’s list of ratings, and clicked on an individual rating, it was loading your own rating (or, the ability to provide one). That was not intentional… when you’re looking at someone else’s list, the behavior was meant to be that clicking a rating would load theirs.

While fixing this, we also took the opportunity to clean up the List View for ratings.

Seen Number Incorrect on People Page - We were improperly joining credits from different roles to calculate the # seen on the new Filmmaker page. That’s been corrected, and is now working properly.

Minor inconsistency about runtimes - An inconsistency was pointed out, where we were asking for the runtime in minutes on the Title Submission page, but in “hours and minutes” on the Fix Information modal.

We’ve brought these into alignment now, by making it just minutes. In addition, we’ve added a neat little helper which shows the duration, in hours and minutes, while you type into the minutes field.

4 digit page numbers too big - On the full database, it’s possible to get into pages that number in the thousands. When that happens, the labeling on the pages doesn’t quite fit. The font needed to be smaller, and now it is!

Dates in brackets () breaks search results - If you put a year in parentheses, it was breaking the search. So looking for "Rounders" turned up the right thing, but "Rounders (1998)" actually gave worse results. That's been corrected!

Unable to view PSI in mobile Chrome browser - It was pointed out that, on mobile, there’s no easy way to see the PSI of a title you’ve already rated. This was an oversight, and we’ve now added that information to the Cast & Info tab of the title information page! Clicking on the PSI will lead you to the explanation page where you can see how it’s been calculated.

TV miniseries missing rating summary - For TV Series, we generally display a helpful message about your average rating across the episodes. But that summary had been missing from TV Mini-Series. No longer!

Year next to title in watch journal - Generally, we display the year alongside the title name, but had neglected to do this in the Watch Journal. That was pointed out to us, and we’ve corrected the oversight!

Filters not preserved from DB to Ratings - There was an odd issue which moving back and forth between the DB and Ratings view wasn’t always preserving filters. I think we’ve got this fixed now!

Exclude tv episodes from Focus sidebar - On the "Focus" sidebar visible on the front page of Criticker, we weren't filtering out episodes and seasons, which could lead to multiple episodes from the same series being highlighted.

Most Contentious Video Games of the 2010s - A new list of the most polarizing video games on Criticker... this time, concentrating on the 2010s!
