Updates and Fixes - 25 May 2026

Published 25 May 2026

We've just rolled out a whole bunch of updates to Criticker, including a ton of bug fixes. Issues with batch ratings, filtering, and viewing your ratings on collection pages, are just some of the problems which were addressed in this fix.

We also rolled out a lot of behind-the-scenes performance enhancements, so if you notice Criticker suddenly seeming a little speedier, that might be why!

Thanks as always to everyone who's helping the site improve by submitting bugs they encounter! And of course a huge thanks to our Sponsors, without whom we would literally not be able to run the site. If you like what we're doing, please consider supporting Criticker!

Always Show PSI Breakdown - There are frequently times when Criticker cannot generate a PSI for a given title, generally when it doesn’t have enough ratings. When that happened, we weren’t linking to the PSI Breakdown page, where you can see how a PSI is generated.

However, there was no reason for that. We want this page to always be available, even if the PSI couldn’t be generated. You might want to see how many of your top TCIs have rated the title, for example. So that’s now been fixed!

Batch Edit on Database view broken - Users can edit their ratings in "batches", but on the Database View of your Ratings, that wasn't working properly. It is now!

Filtering by collection - Another error on the Database view of your ratings, was preventing the filtering of collections. This should be working again.

Submissions not saving watched date - A long-standing bug, which we finally have fixed. At the time of submitting a new title to Criticker, you can both rate the film, and provide the Watch Date. Before now, the Watch Date wasn't being properly stored to the database.

None of the filter on /psis seem to work - An issue was preventing Filters from working properly on the PSI List page. That's been fixed, so you can now regenerate recommendations by genre, year, and more!

On mobile page not adjusted for the screen - The problem here was the JustWatch buttons, which were pushing content off the edges of narrow screens. These buttons are now set to wrap if necessary.

Collections in Poster View don’t show ratings - We’ve fixed a problem where posters on collections were not displaying your rating, even if you had rated it… and encouraging you to rate the title.

Non-persistent platform checkmark on PSIs - A strange issue on the Games version of the site has been fixed. Here, the platforms didn't seem to be remembered, when you filtered your PSI list.

RSS doesn't link to proper URLs - We updated the resources page, so that RSS feeds link to a user-specific version which can be used in RSS readers and apps.

Chart Tooltip Coloring in Dark Mode - Tooltips on the chart called "Ratings from your top TCIs" were not legible when using Dark Mode -- the color of the text was rendered nearly invisible.

"Show All (0)" vs "Show All ()" - There had been a weird error where we were showing different values in the filters and sorts, when no ratings had been made on a title. We've solved this by removing the filters and sorts for those titles without any ratings. It didn't make sense to show them, anyway.
