With appearances by Mack Sennett, Andy Clyde, Vernon Dent, Ben Turpin, Marie Prevost, Billy Bevan, Charlie Murray, a dozen bathing beauties and a toothless lion! The most fun in this comedy was seeing all of the behind the scenes shots of the studio as it really was and all as part of the frenetic plot.

After literally inventing the movie musical with The Jazz Singer, Warner Bros. purchased the motion picture rights to the evergreen Sigmund Romberg/Oscar Hammerstein II 2nd operetta The Desert Song. Although the results looked like a photographed stage play (a common failing of early-talkie songfests), the unforgettable Romberg-Hammerstein tunes (The Riff Song, One Alone, the title number) more than carried the day. The delightful Winnie Lightner stars in this comedy-drama as Pat, a traveling carnival troupe member who does everything from high diving to hula dancing, with time left over to romance meek and mild Sidney (Charles Butterworth) and try to save her younger sister, Irene (Evelyn Knapp), from a lecherous carny barker.
