According to legend, Aromal Chekavar, a famous warrior of North Kerala, lost his life in a duel when his sword broke off at the hilt during the fight. The metal rivets holding the blade to the hilt had been replaced with wooden ones by his ally and cousin, Chandu. Chandu is said to have betrayed his cousin because he was jealous of Aaromal's popularity and abilities. This movie has Chandu (Mammootty) as the protagonist and portrays him as being misunderstood.

Ashokan (Mohanlal) is always in competition with his cousin Appukkuttan (Jagathi Sreekumar). Ashokan is sent to Nepal to his uncle as an astrologer predicts that if he stays at home, he will commit a murder. Once there, he finds that Appukuttan is already there claiming to be Ashokan. He is thrown to the streets where he meets Rimpoche, the Sacred Boy of one of the monasteries, who has escaped from his tormentors. Evil forces try to kidnap the child, and Ashokan is drawn into the fight.

Nandini (Revathi), is an illegitimate child who comes to Ooty, in search of her father who is a retired chief justice of supreme court. She finds Joji (Mohanlal), a tourist guide and acts as though she is mad and takes shelter in his home. Eventually she reveals her true identity and they slowly begin to fall in love. Other parallel threads includes the life of Joji and Nischal (Jagathi Sreekumar) and also that of Kittunni (Innocent) who leads a miserable and frustrated life as a servant. (Wikipedia)

Aravindan (Dileep) is an expert tailor of ladies' garments, who is slightly challenged mentally, and is called by everyone as 'Pottan' (dunce). Aravindan is happy in his small world. He is in love with Anitha (Kavya Madhavan), his childhood friend, whom he lovingly calls Unnimol. Though Anitha likes him and is very free and friendly with him, her love for him is of a different kind. She has a world of her own which includes friends, college-mates, her uncles and her lover Jeevan (Jishnu).

Achuthan (Manian Pillai Raju) is in love with Nandini (Menaka), who is his cousin (maternal uncle's daughter). But his uncle K. P. Thankappan Nair (Nedumudi Venu) will only allow a person from abroad to marry her. So Achuthan pretends to leave town to go to Dubai, while really staying at a lodge in a nearby town, to trick his uncle.

Ravunni Menon (Nedumudi Venu), although a big industrialist, hates all things modern and loves his peaceful rural life. After constant nagging by his wife, Revathi (Sukumari), they move to the city. There, Ravunni Menon's peaceful life is shattered as he starts suspecting Revathi of having an affair with Gopalakrishnan (Mohanlal), a local electric goods store owner. Gopalakrishnan, on the other hand, is trying to woo another Revathi (Menaka), whom he believes to be the daughter of Ravunni Menon.

When relatives of the wealthy and of the royal bloodline Udaya Varma (Nedumudi Venu) learn that they can get hold of his wealth only after his death, they decided to get Udaya Varma killed. One of the relatives Ravi Varma (Sreenivasan), goes to Mumbai in search of a killer for hire. There he meets an old acquaintance Jamal (Mammukoya) who introduces him to Abdullah (Mohanlal) as the prospective killer. Abdullah, who is strapped for cash, assumes the name of Ananthan to get close to Udaya Varma.

When a spate of robberies takes place in a middle-class neighborhood colony, Madhavan (Sreenivasan), who runs a travel agency in the colony, gets his unemployed friend Sethu (Mohanlal) to pose as Raam Singh, a Nepali émigré, to fulfill the residents' demand for a Gurkha security guard. A police officer (Thilakan) and his daughter Maya (Karthika), move into the colony, bringing back bittersweet memories for Sethu.

When the pompous and arrogant Madhavan aka M. A. Dhavan (Sreenivasan), an American return, had to go see a girl for marriage purposes, he swaps places with his chauffeur Shambu (Mohanlal), with catastrophic and hilarious results.

Unnikrishnan (Mohanlal) is a police officer who is sent to track down a college professor turned dangerous criminal, Kurian Fernandez (Nedumudi Venu). Along with his friend Peter Kaliyikka (Mukesh), he performs surveillance on Fernandez's daughter Gaadha (Girija) who lives in a flat with her aunt (Sukumari), to gather the details and whereabouts of her father. The rest of the story is about how Unnikrishnan gets to the criminal via his daughter.

Debt-ridden Gopalakrishna Panikkar (Mohanlal) decides to sell off his house in the city to avoid a foreclosure on his house in the country. When he reaches the city to vacate the tenants from his house - Meera (Karthika) & family - he is shocked to learn that they have no intentions to move. What follows are Gopalakrishna Panikkar's hilarious attempts to evict them - from seeking legal advice, getting the help of the police, to moving in himself.

When Balakrishnan (Saikumar) finds that the job for which he came to the city for, has gone to Rani (Rekha), he decides to fight & stays on in the city as a paying guest with Mannar Mathai (Innocent), a failed drama troupe owner. Gopalakrishnan (Mukesh) is his other paying guest, who dislikes Balakrishnan. When they get a wrong number call from Ramji Rao (Vijayaraghavan), who has kidnapped the daughter of Urumees Thampan (Devan), a rich businessman, Gopalakrishnan hatches a daring plan.

Appukuttan & Ananthan (Jagadish) are twin brothers, but exact opposites. Ananthan is a "Kalari" expert, doesn't care about his family & is a roamer. Appukuttan, in contrast, is amiable & struggles to support their family in Ananthan's absence. In another town, Swamy (Pujappura Ravi) is in needs of a toughie to get rid of his bothersome tenants & he tries to recruit Ananthan for the job, hearing of his repute. Appukuttan receives the offer letter meant for Ananthan, & decides to go posing as him.

Balan (Shankar) & Narayanankutty (Mohanlal) are best friends living in Madras. Balan constantly feeds his uncle & aunt, lies about him being rich, to be able to marry their daughter, Ammu. Narayanankutty, an auto mechanic, is a self-proclaimed playboy & claims to have many girlfriends, to impress his co-workers. All these turn against them when Balan's uncle, aunt & cousin come to visit him, and Narayanankutty claims that he and millionaire M. N. Nambiar's (Thilakan) daughter are in love.

After the death of her husband Vijayan (Devan), the owner of Vijaya Cotton Mills, Radha Vijayan (Seema) is faced with huge trade union troubles & a possible closure of the mill. As per their family friend R. K. Shenoy's (Jagannatha Varma) recommendation, Mohan Cherian (Mohanlal) is appointed as the new manager. Mohan attempts drastic changes to resurrect the mill, which pits him against the ICTU trade union leader Raghavan (Mammootty) & other unions who exercised control over the mill workers.

After 'Nadodikkattu (1987)' and 'Pattana Pravesham (1988)', CIDs Ramdas (Mohanlal) and Vijayan (Sreenivasan) are back for another wacky adventure. After a priceless gold crown is stolen from India, Ramdas and Vijayan are sent to the USA to retrieve it. The only clues they have is a pseudonym "Paul Barber", and a piece of a torn shirt. Tharashankar (K.P. Ummar) & his nephew Tharadas (Mammootty), gold smugglers, runs a racket with the support of the local fishers. Cops Rajesh (Captain Raju) & Prasad (Mohanlal) are after them. During an encounter, Tharashankar is killed by Rajesh, & in revenge, Tharashankar's son Chandru (Ravindran) & Chandru's chum Charlie (Lalu Alex) kills Rajesh. Mistaking Tharadas to be the reason for Rajesh's death, Rajesh's widow (& Tharadas's ex-lover) Thulasi (Seema) & Prasad vows to bring Tharadas down.

Justice Usha Varma (Sharada) is set to pronounce her verdict on Jagmohan Pandey, a member of the Kashmir based terror group, Himani Tiger Force (HTF), for killing a dignitary. To free Jagmohan, Qureshi, HTF's current leader threatens Usha Varma & to prove that he means business, kills her son Unni. Under orders from Usha Varma's brother Rajan (Lalu Alex), who is also the Home Secretary, the responsiblity of Usha Varma's security is given to Captain Shyam Mohan (Suresh Gopi), an NSG commando.

Sunandha (Seema) is a young widow with a 7 year old son Hari (Master Vimal), who struggles to make ends meet in a village in rural Kerala. Right next door, is the family of a bank manager Bhaskaran (Mohanlal), his nagging wife Vijayam (Shobana), & their kid Jayan (Master Prasobh), who is Hari's best friend. With encouragement from her previous teacher & secret admirer Muraleedharan (Mammootty), Sunandha starts a preschool. Just as her life seemed to stabilize, a tragedy complicates everything.

Sankaran Nair (Thilakan), a Retd. driver has 4 kids - bank employee Krishnanunni (Balachandra Menon), drama artist Preman Vadakkummuri (Sreenivasan), & students Gopu (Baiju) & Rema (Parvathi). For Krishnanunni, everything is based on money, & this mentality of his brings friction within the family. He gets into a war of words with Sankaran Nair, & demands back the INR 25,000 he spent on Rema's wedding. Sankaran Nair vows to pay back the debt, & kicks Krishnanunni out of the house.

Shyam (Mohanlal) is a playboy who, with the help of his long-suffering maid Dick Ammayi (Sukumari) & his friend Anil Kumar (Mukesh) who joins him later, juggles 3 different girlfriends who are assigned to routes on non-intersecting flight schedules - only one woman is in town at any given time. This works like a charm at the start wherein none of the ladies are aware of each other's presence in Shyam's apartment, but things start to crumble which leads to a series of funny events.

At the behest of the Supreme Court Chief Justice (Somayajulu J.V.), Akila IPS (Vijayshanti), a CBI officer is investigating the case of Siddartha (Suresh Gopi), ex-leader of the student wing of the People's Party, who is accused & jailed for the murder of Mahila Morcha leader Ambika (Geetha). Siddartha breaks out of Akila's custody, regroups with his old party friends, & starts a guerrilla war against the people who framed him, chief of them being the People's Party leader J.K. (Mani C. Kappan).

Ravi Kumar (Balachandra Menon), SI of Police, frequently quarrels with, but loves his wife Shobana (Shobana), whom he had married against the wishes of her rich father, Azhimathi Naraapilla (Adoor Bhasi). When Ravi meets his old college pal Dinesh (Sreenath), who is now jailed, Dinesh requests Ravi to drop by at his house every now & then to console his distraught wife. Ravi hides this matter from Shobana, afraid of her misconstruing it. But Shobana starts to suspect that something's going on.

Ashwathi Varma (Ambika), a reporter for 'Sunday Mirror', tries to expose the underworld criminal-political nexus & the gold smuggling racket of Sagar alias Jacky (Mohanlal), which he jointly runs with Shekaran Kutty (Suresh Gopi), the son of the state Chief Minister. Sagar opposes Shekaran's wishes to expand the business into narcotics, & this makes them fall out with each other. IG Thomas (Janardanan), who has a personal vendetta against the Chief Minister, also tries to exploit this situation.

Ravi (Mammootty) has a content & happy life with his wife Indu (Poornima Jayaram) and his daughter Minimol (Anju). They befriend & give shelter to Radha (Rohini), a girl on the run from her step-father. Ravi's well-set life is shattered one fateful night, when his wife gets gang-raped & later Radha is shocked to find that her lover Venu (Ratheesh) is also amongst the accused.

Sreenivasan (Jayaram), who lead a care-free life with his friends, hesitantly joins the Police force due to family pressure. He gets posted to the village police station of Vadakkekara, where he meets & gets attracted to Chandrika (Urvashi), daughter of Head Constable Parameshwaran (Oduvil Unnikrishnan). While transporting a murder accused, Peter (Mukesh), to the court, he dupes Sreenivasan & escapes. With his job at stake, Sreenivasan goes in search of Peter to Peter's hometown of Chinnankolli.

When the great sorcerer Pappu (Jagannatha Varma) sensed his own death, he decided to pass on the family sorcery secrets to Kumaran (Mohanlal), his womanizer nephew. Pappu teaches Kumaran the mantras on condition that Kumaran would practice celibacy & passes away. Although Kumaran starts off his practice with dedication, soon he starts slipping away into temptation, succumbing to the efforts of Choorakkattu Raman Patteri, a Mantrik who was trying to destroy Kumaran's family's legacy of sorcery.

Twin brothers Navneethakrishnan aka "Kishan" & Ananthakrishnan aka "Ananthu" are poles apart - while the former had run away from home as a child & is now a goon of the Mangalore underworld don Govindji (Thilakan), the latter is a college lecturer in Ottapalam. Ananthu visits Kishan from time to time, determined to reform him & bring him back to Ottapalam. Kishan falls out with Govindji & Govindji, in trying to get Kishan killed, kills Ananthu instead. Kishan decides to go undercover as Ananthu.

Keshava Panicker (Madhu), an honest engineer, has a lot of dreams for his son Unni (Mammootty), a medical student. But when Unni teams up with four of his rich and spoiled college mates, he falls into bad ways. To support his new lifestyle, he starts stealing money from his parents & accepting bribes from his dad's acquaintances. This enrages his dad who kicks him out of the house, leaving his mother Sridevi (Srividya) & his cousin/girlfriend Parvathi (Poornima Jayaram) torn between the two men.

Naren (Mohanlal), a hotshot architect, woos Nandha (Revathy) & they get engaged. Later, when Naren dies in a tragic accident, Nandha accompanies his body to his hometown of Pattambi where she is shocked to meet Naren's identical twin Unni (Mohanlal). Having never known about Naren having a twin, Nandha tries to come to terms with it & also finds solace in Unni. Unni's parents plan to get Nandha married to Unni, not knowing that Unni is in love with the maid girl of the house, Bhadhra (Shobana).

When ailing schoolmaster Madhavan (Balan K. Nair) is said to be sinking, his three kids - eldest daughter Vishalam (Subha), son Rajan (Mammootty) & youngest daughter Seethalakshmi (Sumithra), & their families descend on their ancestral home. There, Rajan finds that everyone is only too interested in getting his dad's death over with. He gets disgusted by their petty contending & materialism & reminisces about his younger days there in his home, with his dad & cousin/girlfriend Ammukutty (Seema).

Nicholas (Nedumudi Venu) & son Freddy (Mohanlal), who are more of friends than father-son, make a living doing odd jobs. They become involved with two criminals - JJ (Thilakan) & Chacha (K.P. Ummer), when JJ recruits them to kidnap Chacha, but Chacha escapes. Later, they learn that JJ & Chacha are after a piano which belonged to Freddy's girlfriend's dad. Suspecting that there is more to the piano than meets the eye, Freddy & Nicholas also go in search of it, with pal Appaji (N.L. Balakrishnan).

Nandu (Mohanlal), smitten with Seetha (Poornima Jayaram), seeks her hand in marriage & they get engaged. 3 days before their wedding, Nandu gets killed in a motorcycle accident, leaving Seetha devastated. Tragedy strikes again when Seetha's elder sister Nirmala (Seema) suffers a miscarriage & eventually, total paralysis. Thinking that Nirmala would never recover & her daughter Sonykutty (Shalini) would be motherless, Seetha's family pressurizes her to marry her brother-in-law Sethu (Mammootty).

Moolankuzhiyil Sahadevan (Dileep) gets cheated out of his dream job of a Police SI, when he is declared unfit during the physical test, by his brother-in-law S.I. Peethambaran (Jagathi) & Police Commissioner Gaurishankar (Ashish Vidyarthi). Sahadevan takes over his uncle Karunan's private detective firm & modifies his name to C.I.D Moosa. By fluke, he manages to save the life of Kerala CM Ravi Menon (Murali) & becomes famous. C.I.D. Moosa then tries to find out who is trying to kill the CM.

Kurukshetra is based on the Kargil War of 1999, fought between India and Pakistan. Colonel Mahadevan (Mohanlal), who leads the army unit posted at Kargil, has as his mission the re-capturing of Indian territory that had earlier been run over by the enemy. Bhuvanachandran aka Bhuvan (Dileep), a broke real estate broker, is conned into buying a 30 acre land in Tamil Nadu, disputed by 2 warring local bigwigs - Pandidurai (Prakash Raj) & Karuppayya (Rajan P. Dev), both of whom sworn to kill anyone buying the land. Bhuvan & his partner Bhasi (Harisree Asokan), hatch a plan wherein Bhuvan would befriend Pandidurai to get closer to him. Bhuvan also gets drawn to Karuppayya's daughter Meena (Navya Nair), unaware that Pandidurai also has an eye on her.

When Chandri (Urvashi), Sivan's (Mammootty) sister, gets pregnant outside of marriage & seeing Sivan's anger at this, Chandri names Sivan's best friend, Chellan (Gopi), as the father & hearing this Sivan kills Chellan. Resolute on revenge, Chellan's brother Bhadran (Mohanlal) sells Chandri off to a brothel & awaits Sivan's return from the jail. But after Sivan's return, when Bhadran is stabbed by a couple of his enemies, Sivan comes to Bhadran's rescue, in spite of Bhadran's enemity towards him.

Manikyan (Mohanlal), his master Srikrishnan (Nedumudi) & Srikrishnan's sister Yeshodhamma (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) live in Srihalli, a remote village bordering Kerala & Karnataka. On a trip together, Manikyan & Srikrishnan get stuck with a drama artiste, Karthumpi (Shobana), whom they also end up saving from some goons. While escaping, Manikyan & Karthumpi gets lost in the woods & circumstances cause them to fall in love. Back home, Srikrishnan, smitten with Karthumpi, also makes plans to marry her.

Ben Narendran (Mammootty), who decides to commit suicide because he decided that he was content with life, rescues Janaradhanan aka Janu (Jayaram), who was also about to commit suicide because he murdered someone by mistake. Having learned that Janu is the sole supporter of his family, Ben takes the blame for the murder & gets a life sentence. When Ben gets out on parole, he learns that Janu was killed by corrupt bigwig R. K. Nambiar (Murali), & he decides to bring him & his henchmen to justice.

Sivaraman (Mohanlal) & Govindankutty (Mukesh), both on the streets in Mumbai & nowhere to go, take part in a bank heist with Thomas (Cochin Hanifa), his younger brother Tyutty (Jagadish) & girlfriend Elena (Sucheta). Thomas gets caught & in a bid to hide out & get some money for visas so they could escape to the Gulf, Sivaraman & Govindankutty hideout in the house of an elderly blind couple as their long gone grandson Kunjunni - except Govindankutty pretends to be the body & Sivaraman the voice.

Mannar Mathai (Innocent) runs 'Urvasi Theaters' with Gopalakrishnan (Mukesh) & Balakrishnan (Saikumar) as part of it. When the heroine of their latest drama leaves to join the movies, Gopalakrishnan brings home a girl whom he rescues from suicide - Meera (Vani Viswanath), as the new lead & later also marries her to escape a lie to his mom. Later, they learn that Meera is suicidal, but when she is cured, she doesn't recognize Gopalakrishnan & claims to be married to Mahendra Varma (Biju Menon).

Sreedharan (Mammootty), who runs a garage, is a simpleton, who is on the lookout for a bride who is a college graduate. When his uncle requests him to let his daughter Ashwathi (Neena Kurup) stay in Sreedharan's house, to finish off the last year of her studies, & also expresses his wish that Sreedharan should marry Ashwathi after her studies, Sreedharan becomes very happy, but what he finds though, is a very rude & arrogant Ashwathi. Sreedharan sets out to satisfy her whims & to win her heart.

During the college reunion of the class of 1991 Chemistry batch, one of the ex-students, Sukumaran aka Suku (Prithviraj), is found strangulated in his hostel room, & is taken to the hospital since he was still alive. Professor Iyer (Balachandra Menon), who organized the reunion, & Pius (Indrajith), Suku's best friend in college, together, reminisces the college days & tries to unravel the secrets behind what happened to Suku.

Madhavan Nair aka "Meesha Madhavan" (Dileep), a petty thief in the village of Chek, woos his arch enemy Bhageerathan Pillai's (Jagathi) daughter, Rukmini (Kavya Madhavan), & after some initial spats, Rukmini also falls for him. Bhageerathan Pillai tries to foil the relationship, with the help of the new SI, Eppan Pappachi (Indrajith). Then one day, the local temple idol disappears & suspicion falls on Madhavan. With the whole village after him, it's up to Madhavan to prove himself innocent.

After his son dies in a hospital, a nomad from Kabul ("Kabooliwala") (Nedumudi) kidnaps the doctor Sethu's (M.G. Soman) son Unni, & disappears. 20 years later, Sethu & his family finds Unni, but he now lives as "Munna", part of a nomadic group of circus performers & is in love with Laila (Charmila), the owner of the circus. Munna is torn between the two families, & tries to reunite with Laila, with the help of two homeless litter-gatherers - Kannas (Innocent) & Kadalaas (Jagathi Sreekumar).

Dr. Annie (Heera) completes her studies in the US & returns to join her uncle David Kurishinkal's (Soman) 'Span Hospital', to practice under famed surgeon Dr. Roy Mathews (Mohanlal). Annie initially thinks Roy is a boor & hates him, but soon she sees his humanitarian side & they fall in love & get married. When Roy was out of town, Annie stumbles upon an internal organ racket in the hospital. She is killed & the blame falls on Roy. Roy escapes from jail to find Annie's killer - a one-armed man.

Josekutty (Prithviraj), an auto rickshaw driver & the sole support of a struggling family, agrees to marry a wealthy single mother of the Mekloth family, Nancy (Kaveri), mistaking her to be the girl he was secretly attracted to (Kavya Madhavan). His friend, Paappikunju (Harisree Asokan), also cook up a lie that Josekutty is the father of the child, to make his family agree to the marriage. However, Nancy commits suicide the day before the wedding, now Josekutty has to accept & rear the toddler.

Associate Editor of a major newspaper 'Kerala Reshmi', Nandagopal (Suresh Gopi), teams up with SP Firoz Mohammed (Biju Menon), to investigate the murder of his guru & Chief Editor of the tabloid 'Jagratha', Shekharan (Murali). They lock horns with criminal don Vishwanathan (N.F. Varghese) & his coterie of politicians & police officers. After Nandagopal gets framed for murder & gets beaten up in custody & Firoz is killed by Vishwanathan, Nandagopal decides to take matters into his own hands.

Jayakanthan aka Jayan (Kunchako), whose father had eloped 25 years ago with his mother from the village of Paruthippara, comes back to claim compensation for his father's land which was acquired by the Government for building an airport. Bhargavan (Sreenivasan), an usurer who had illegally acquired that land, tells Balakrishnan Nambiar (Janardanan), Jayan's uncle, that Jayan had come to destroy the family's ancestral home. Balakrishnan, believing this, tries to drive Jayan away from the village.

Balakrishnan (Mohanlal), a jobless graduate, comes to the forest of Koolankolli with this best friend elephant Vinayan, for hauling timber. There, he teams up with a Forest Ranger Sunny Varghese (Mukesh) & a caseworker Jose (Babu Nampoothiri), to stop the illegal cannabis cultivation & sandalwood thefts of Madathil Raghava Panicker (Thilakan) & his son (Suresh Gopi). He also gets close to Sreedevi (Karthika), Panicker's niece, whom Panicker wanted for his son to marry to get hold of her wealth.

Unnikrishnan (Dileep), an orphan & someone convicted as a juvenile, saves Qasim Baba's (Lal) life from a group of killers. Unnikrishnan assumes the name of Salaam as per advice from Baba & joins Baba's forces. Suleiman (Shammi Thilakan), Baba's nephew, murders Baba & puts the blame on Salaam & he gets sentenced to life. In jail, he joins up with 3 of his old pals from the juvenile home & plans to get back at Suleiman. Soon, Baba's old right-hand men also learns of Salaam's innocence & joins him.

Appukuttan (Mohanlal) hospitalizes a rich heiress, Chandra (Sukanya), who was involved in an accident & gets mistaken for her husband Alfie. Desperate to raise cash to save his dad who is caught in a peculation suit & realizing that his only chance to get some money is to act as her husband, Appukuttan acts as her husband at the hospital in front of Chandra's family, & his illiterate fruit juice vendor friend Noor (Sreenivasan) acts as Alfie at Chandra's father Varma (Nedumudi Venu)'s office.

Annie (Deepa Nair) returns from Singapore with her father Joshua (Devan), with the secret aim of finding her old childhood pal Benny. She finally finds Benny (Kunchako Boban), who is now caring for his late sister's 3 kids. Annie befriends the kids & hides out in Benny's house without revealing herself to him. Meanwhile, Benny's boss Avarachan's (N.F. Varghese) daughter Nancy (Sruthi Raj) makes overtures towards Benny, much to the annoyance of the kids, who hated her & preferred Annie to Nancy.

Kanchana (Urvashi), frustrated with her housewife life & overcome with an inferiority complex after the arrival of her brother-in-law Mohanan's (Jayaram) working wife Shailaja (Parvathi), misleads her husband Sukumaran (Sreenivasan) to turn against his family. Sukumaran, Kanchana & their daughter starts living apart in a rented house in a posh colony. Soon Kanchana's demands to keep up with their neighbors forces them to start living beyond their means, with dire consequences.

Prabhakaran (Madhu), a hardworking fisherman, gets lost at sea, after which his wife Lakshmi (K.R. Vijaya) is forced to leave town with their three young children - Babu, Appu & Kunjumon. During the train journey, Lakshmi loses Babu & Appu too, who in turn again separates from each other. Babu grows up as Rajan (Jayan), a jewel thief, Appu grows up as Kumar (M.G. Soman), a rich businessman's protégé, & Kunjumon grows up as Ravi (Sukumaran), with his mother. Fate unites them again in life.

Dileep Kumar (Mukesh) gets transferred to the remote hamlet of Mutharam Kunnu as the Post Master of the local post office & falls in love with Ammu (Lizy), the daughter of Kochukuttan Pillai (Nedumudi), a local bigwig obsessed with wrestling. Determined to only marry off his daughter to a strong wrestler & seeing that Dileep doesn't fit the bill, Kochukuttan Pillai challenges Dileep to wrestle a person he nominates as an opponent & summons his friend & famous wrestler Dara Singh, for this task.

With the aim of pleasing his dearest friend, a heart patient, & giving him a memorable vacation before he returned back to America, Kaimal (Nedumudi) recruits a thief Vishnu (Mohanlal), to act as the husband of his dearest friend's daughter Kalyani (Renjini), after Kalyani was snubbed by her lover Ravi (Shanawas) on the day of their wedding. After some initial spats, Vishnu & Kalyani gets attracted to each other, but soon Kalyani learns that Vishnu has a tragic past & an even more tragic future.

Vishnu (Jayaram), a Malayali working in Bombay, meets & falls in love with Arundhati (Parvathi), another Malayali working in Bombay. They get married in Kerala, but come back to Bombay to find that finding a place to rent for them to live together was tougher than they thought.

Sivaprasad aka Sivan (Mohanlal), a communist party worker, gets appointed as the chairman of the Devaswom Board, after being nominated by party leader Shekaran (Soman). When the head priest of the temple Parameshwaran Namboothiri (Thikkurisi ) goes against their corrupt ways, Sivan enlists the help of his best friend Vasu (Jayaram) to frame the priest, after which the priest commits suicide in humiliation. A guilty Vasu turns against the temple corruption causing friction between him & Sivan.

Shyam (Reghu), who leaves his house after his father re-marries after his mother's death, reaches a mountainside village in search of his uncle Shankunni (Manavalan Joseph). There, he gets a job of driving the horse-cart of local bigwig & womanizer Thampurankutty (Mohanlal). Shyam falls in love with Shankunni's best friend Ganapathi Iyer's (Adoor Bhasi) daughter Meenu (Rohini). As their marriage got fixed, Thampurankutty's eyes fall on Meenu & he tries to get Meenu for himself.

Three friends - Zachariah (Mammootty), Gopi (Nedumudi Venu) & Hilal (Asokan) - decide to celebrate Vishu (Malayalam New Year) at a village brothel run by Maaluvamma (Sukumari). As they were having fun there, they learned that Gaurikutty, the newest addition to the place was forcibly brought there & two communal leaders - Mooppan (Kunjandi) & Panicker - are fighting over her. Hilal, seeing the plight of the girl, falls in love with her & the 3 friends decide to rescue Gaurikutty from the brothel.

After the death of his altruist father, Roy Varghese (Mammootty) agrees to continue anonymously sponsoring Sherly (Shobana), a bright orphan student. Sherly ends up going to the same college as Roy's niece Mercy (Sabitha Anand), & they get introduced. Roy recognizes Sherly, but Sherly falls in love with Roy, not knowing that he is her sponsor. Roy backs off citing their age gap & tries to make Sherly fall for his friend's brother Baby (Rahman), but a determined Sherly tries to win Roy over.

Arundhathi Menon (Urvashi) gets pimped by a family friend Brahmadattan (Jayaram), to procure a job for himself. Arundhathi's father kills himself in humiliation & she ends up at a whorehouse. Later, she meets James (Balachandra Menon) & becomes his girlfriend, but loses him to a weak heart. A pregnant Arundhathi is raped by James's friends George (Lalu Alex) & gang, causing a miscarriage, after which she returns to her hometown. There, she meets Balagopalan (Suresh Gopi), her childhood friend.

Peethambaran (Sreenivasan) is a do-gooder who is always running around to solve the problems of fellow villagers, but inadvertently neglecting the matters of his own mother & younger sisters. Soon, a few incidents - failing in the village Panchayat election & his friend Sugunan (Vijayaraghavan) cheating him, makes him realize that people whom he helped are not very grateful in return.

Sankarankutty (Premkumar), although coming from a long line of mahouts, considered it below his dignity to be one & leaves home when asked to go as a mahout to the Mullackal family. He meets debt-ridden Ananthapadmanaban aka Ananthu (Jagadish), whom he saves from suicide. Learning about the job, Ananthu shows up at Mullackal & takes the job, claiming to be Sankarankutty. When Sankarankutty finally shows up after a change of mind, he sees Ananthu as the mahout & vows to smoke him out of there.

Vettikkaadu Sivan (Jayasurya), kidnaps his uncle Vettikkaadu Sadhasivan (Jagathi), a contender for the Chief Minister post & plants Sadhasivan's long lost twin brother & banana vendor Vettikkaadu Sambhasivan (Jagathi), whom Sivan found in Gujarat, in his place. Sambhasivan wins the election, but has no interest to rule & pines for his long lost love Ammu. Sambhasivan's stupidities create problems for Sivan.

Syed Ahmed (Mohanlal), son of Lebba Sahib (Nedumudi) & mute Nabisa (Sukumari) is a revolutionary whose forward thinking brings the ire of religious Islamic leaders. They frame Syed in a bombing conspiracy which kills hundreds, after which Syed is sentenced to death. Nabisa loses her sanity & goes on an aimless search for her son. This brings her to a temple where she seeks refuge & food, but when the temple officials find out about her being a Muslim, they kick her out.

19-year old Kannan (Sangeeth), who lives with his family in Trivandrum, comes with his mother (Srividya) to their ancestral home of Koyikkal, during a vacation, where all of their family planned to have a get-together. There, he reunites with his cousin & childhood playmate, 16-year old Radhika (Sonia), who had come to dance at the family temple & who was all set to go to USA to join her family. Kannan falls in love with Radhika & tries to woo her, with not so good side-effects.

Major Nair (Nedumudi), an old man, who leads a respectable life as a husband & father, flirts with younger women. He befriends 3 college students & romeos - Bhaktavalsalan (Sreenivasan), Gopan (Mukesh), Kora (Jagadish) - who are also out for love. When they choose Nair's daughter Meenu (Lizy) as their target, Nair opposes. All 3 get into Nair's house posing as a Hindi tutor, houseboy & Nair's wrestler brother-in-law's disciple respectively. Nair comes up with crooked plans to throw them out.

Sethumadhavan (Mohanlal), a struggling middle-class man, tries to start a biscuit factory - 'Dakshayani Biscuits', with his hopes constantly thwarted by corrupt government officials demanding bribes to approve his papers. Having a huge joint family to support, he doesn't confide about his troubles to anyone, including his wife Sulochana (Urvashi), who constantly accuses him of not giving her enough attention. Things continue to worsen till Sethumadhavan tells Sulochana that they should separate.

Vishnu Menon, Regional Manager of Indo-Arab Travels & a martinet, has 7 unrealistic conditions for his future bride including the girl being able to cook various cuisines, be fluent in Hindi, know driving & Carnatic music & be brave. Vishnu's friend & co-worker Krishnankutty (Jagadish) & brother-in-law V.G. Kurup (Jagathi) tricks him into marrying his steno Lathika (Urvashi) after deceiving him into believing that Lathika had all the qualities. After the marriage, they try to keep up the story.

R. K. (Jose Prakash), who runs a roof tile factory, teams up with Pappan (K.P.A.C. Sunny) & Hajiyar, two local communal leaders to turn the Hindu & Muslim population against each other. Problem starts when a Muslim man Bichu (Sathar) is accused of entering the temple, causing the Hindu youth to beat him up. R. K.'s son Suresh (Jose) & Pappan's son Mohan (Mohanlal) rape & kill a girl called Sathi (Rajyalakshmi). Retaliations & counter-retaliations cause the whole village to go up in flames.

Sethu (Sukumaran) & Unni (Nedumudi) are co-workers & best pals who did everything together & shared everything. When Radha (Poornima Jayaram), Unni's acquaintance from his village, comes to Madras for a new job, both men get attracted to her. They start to woo her & in the process, end up fighting with each other. Each now starts trying to get Radha's attention in their own way. They also have to shield her from their skirt chaser boss, V. Narayan Das (Sankaradi), the GM of Southern Industries.

Vishwanathan (Mukesh), the budding leader of a group of unemployed youth in the village of Kummaattikkadavu, becomes the witness to the murder of honest cop Harikumar (Devan) by Achayan (Rajan P. Dev), the local bigwig. After an attempt on his life, Vishwanathan gets assigned two cops for protection - K. Sreedharan Nair (Innocent) & K.P. Chacko (Jagathi). At first, Vishwanathan considers his escorts a matter of pride, but soon their constant presence & interference starts to mess with his life.

Devanarayanan (Mohanlal), a Brahmin priest, gets framed & jailed for theft by Arumukhan (M.G. Soman) & his coterie. After his release, Devan goes to Mumbai where he grows in the Mumbai underworld, under Don Karim (Goga Kapoor). After a 2nd jail sentence, Devan gives up crime & with money given by Karim, returns to his home town in Kerala to regain his ancestral home. There, Devan finds his family in ruins. He teams up with his old pal & politician Karunan (Sreenivasan) to get back at Arumukhan.

Injakkadan Mathai (Innocent) & sons Thankachan (Suresh Gopi) & Roy (Jagadish) run a gainful cloth shop while a rival store run by the Chungathara family is at a loss, much to the latter's ire. After Thankachan weds Beena (Saranya), daughter of an old pal of Mathai, Thommichan, Chungathara misleads David (Rajan P. Dev), Beena's uncle, into thinking that Mathai had killed Thommichan. Hearing this, Beena's sister Shirley (Urvashi) moves in with Mathai's family, to take revenge for her dad's murder.

Ashwathy (Suchitra) & Mary are co-workers at 'New India Chemicals', but hate each others' guts & are always fighting with each other at work. Aswathy & her husband Dr. Balakrishnan aka Balu (Siddique) move to a new rental home, only to find that their neighbor is Mary. Mary's husband Zakaria (Jagadish) turns out to be Balu's old pal. Zakaria & Balu decides to reconcile their wives' differences, but soon they are also drawn into the conflict, with disastrous results for both families.

Karanan (Mammootty), a boater, gets jailed for 5 years for hacking some goons while protecting his pal Kumaran (Vincent). Upon his release, he returns to the harbor to find that Kumaran has taken his girl Madhavi (Menaka) & his boat & is a bigwig now. Karanan takes to boozing & petty smuggling, & later befriends 2 people whom he takes under his wings - a lassie Devayani (Seema) who ran away from her tart sister & pimp brother-in-law & Gopi (Mohanlal), a grad in search of the man who cheated him.

Malayala Shabdam daily, owned by the Ezhuthupura Veedu family whose matriarch is famous poetess Vishwalaksmi Thampuratti (Rohini Hattangadi), is in trouble with the newly appointed manager Anantharaman (Ratheesh) slowly arrogating it, using the real owner Rama Varma (Devan) as a puppet. Rama Varma's younger brother Ravi Varma aka Aniyan (Mohanlal) vows to win back the paper by hook or crook, & sets out to be rich with the help of ex-goon Pareed (Captain Raju) & takes to smuggling illicit liquor.

Two young men, 'Vaikundam' Shankar (Shankar) & 'Kailasam' Raju (Manian Pillai Raju), comes to rich businessman T.P. Bhaskaran Nair's (Adoor Bhasi) house in search of a job, with recommendation letters from Nair's lawyer & auditor. They initially get jobs at his factory, & later Shankar gets appointed as his driver. Shankar & Nair's daughter Sindu fall in love, but Nair wanted to marry her off to his nephew from Bombay, Gopi (Sreenath). Gopi locks horns with Shankar, over Sindu.

At the behest of marriage broker Chandy (Jagathi), Georgootty's (Jayaram) father (Babu Nampoothiri) gets him married to wealthy Cheerankandath Ittichan's (Thilakan) daughter Alice (Sunitha) by lying about their family's financial position. After learning the truth, an angry Ittichan forces Georgootty to live at his house like a manservant. After getting humiliated for a long time, Georgootty gets tired of his life, & decides to get even with Ittichan with his brains & with the help of his pals.

Mulla (Dileep) hails from the Karekkaadu Colony, a slum full of criminals & prostitutes, led by Ambi (Biju Menon) & is set to succeed Ambi as the colony's leader, should something happen to Ambi. He finds a deserted child in a train, which he hands over to passenger Lachi (Meera Nandan) & leaves. Lachi, who has her own problems, returns the baby back to Mulla, & he & his gang tries to bring him up. Lalchi also visits & takes active part in raising the kid, & gradually she & Mulla fall in love.

Fed up with his restricted life, Kunjoottan (Sreenivasan), a village simple, runs away to the city with his friend Ramachandran (Jayaram), after stealing money from his father. After their money gets stolen, the cash-stricken duo kidnaps a rich girl Asha (Suparna), & asks her father M.R.C. (Thilakan) for ransom. When they learn that M.R.C isn't Asha's real father & that he is only after her wealth & he wants her dead, Kunjoottan & Ramachandran decide to protect the girl till her 18th birthday.

Machu (Mammootty), an illiterate street urchin turned millionaire scrap-dealer, falls for the sweet talk of con man Andrews Pereira (Nedumudi) & hands over all his money to him to invest, which Andrews transfers into his daughter Diana's (Navneet Kaur) name & escapes with her to Singapore after also duping Machu into thinking that Andrews was going to let Machu marry Diana. Peeved at having cheated out of his life savings, Machu follows suit to Singapore, to get back the money & the girl.

Rameshan Nair (Mammootty), the village improver, tries to reform thug Karakkoottil Dasan (Sreenivasan) & get him married. But when he recognizes the bride-to-be Rajani (Kanaka), as a girl whom he had once gotten nabbed for immoral trafficking, he blocks the marriage & later, also a job which Rajani took up. Later, he learns that Rajani was innocent, but by then, he was stuck with her. To get Rajani a place to stay, Rameshan had to pose as Rajani's husband, leading to misunderstandings at home.

Subhash aka Kochu Kurup (Vineeth) runs away from home to Bangalore, after being mistaken as the lover of Unnithan's (Janardanan) daughter Sarasu. There, Subhash falls in love with Padmaja (Kavya Madhavan) over telephone conversations even without seeing each other, after he saves her aunt Sudha (Sukumari) in an accident. When Subhash's friend Aniyankutty (Dileep) learns that Padmaja is the same girl "Pappi" he loves, he & his helper Appachan (Jagathi) tries to foil Subhash's & Padmaja's love.

Bachelor & drunk Charlie Chacko (Mohanlal) is forced to babysit his brother Jameskutty's (Nedumudi) rebellious teenage daughter & her younger brother & sister when Jameskutty & wife had to leave to the US on an emergency, after Jameskutty's brother-in-law meets with an accident. Although, initially hated by everyone including the maid Gloria (Philomina), Charlie slowly gains everyone's trust & love.

Orphaned Auto rickshaw driver Sudhi (Mohanlal) falls in love with unparented rich girl Meenakshi aka Meenu (Rekha) & initially face stiff opposition from her grandparents & family friends. Meenu's grandpa finally sides with her & arrange for them to get secretly married, but their relative Bhadran (Murali), who had an eye on Meenu but was earlier snubbed by her, abducts her. Now, Sudhi & his auto driver friends have to save Meenu & let the lovers unite.

K. Vishwanatha Pillai aka Vishwam (Jayaram), an unemployed grad, comes to Kochi for an interview, but is mistaken for a con artist & arrested. After the S.I. George (Mukesh) turned out to be his college friend, he goes free, but learns that there is a lookalike of his called Uthaman operating in the city, who is a criminal. After getting into various troubles over the resemblance, including losing his new-found job, a frustrated Vishwam sets out on a quest to seek out Uthaman, posing as him.

Self-made businessman Vinayachandra Kurup (Balachandra Menon) is a martinet at work & at home, with his mother (Kaviyoor Ponnamma), wife Vasantha (Geetha), brother Shanthan (Jayaram), uncle Gangadharan (Oduvil Unnikrishnan) & younger sister Sathi (Monisha). When Shanthan marries Beena, Vinayan's steno, without his permission, Vasantha sides with Shanthan, causing discord between Vinayan & Vasantha & leading to her leaving the house. Best pals Aravindan (Jayaram) & Chandu (Mukesh) run away to Pondicherry to hide out at pal Joy's (Sreenivasan) place after issues at home. Misunderstandings lead to her fixed wedding getting called off & Padmini holds Chandu responsible. Vowing to separate Chandu & Aravindan, Padmini decides to marry Aravindan, to get back at Chandu.

P. T. Zacharia (Jagathi), a middle-aged financier who runs 'Kuttiparambil Financiers', lives with his wife Moly (Urvashi) & daughter Teena (Sruthi Lakshmi). However, after seeing the lifestyle of his womanizer friend Girijavallaba Menon (Mukesh), who was only 5 years younger than him, Zacharia feels frustrated with his life. Goaded by Girija, Zacharia tries to look young & fall into an affair with a younger woman, Urmila (Jyothirmayi). However, Zacharia soon gets trapped in an extortion racket.

Alice (Suhasini), who lives with her brother, army officer Capt. George (Prem Prakash), is an English teacher at the Good Shepherd school in Ooty. The neglected & unruly son of MP Xavier Puthooran (Jose Prakash), Ravi Puthooran (Rahman), joins the school, whom Alice turns into a prize student, through her efforts. Her boyfriend, Capt. Thomas (Mammootty), gets jealous of the attention Alice bestowed upon Ravi & got enraged at the very mention of Ravi. A confused Alice is torn between the two men.

Oyyarath Magaranth Ramanathan aka OMR (Mohanlal), a Singapore based magnate, sponsors a 9-member all-girl band called 'Red Chillies' who also doubled up as RJs at his Cochin based FM station. The girls are blamed for the death of a guy named Ricky (Byon), found dead in their house, & for the hit & run death of 10 people, which included communist leader Maani Varghese (Thilakan). While the public & police blamed OMR for Maani's death, OMR comes to Kerala to find the truth & vindicate himself.

Ravishankar (Jayaram) has been freeloading off rich orphaned farmer Dennis (Suresh Gopi) & lying to his folks about him being a rich farmer himself. When his grandparents & cousins plan to visit him for the summer, Dennis helps him out by inviting them to his farm, 'Bethlehem Estates'. Ravi's grandfather (Janardanan) promises to make him his heir, if Ravi chooses one of his 5 cousins as his bride. But, one of the cousins, Abhirami (Manju Warrier) has a deep sorrow which no one knows about.

Ex-gangster Zakir Ali Hussain (Mohanlal), settled in Cochin, takes up arms again after an attempt on the life of his father figure Haji Mustafa (Anupam Kher), by Mumbai-based don Raman Naik (Mahesh Anand). Zakir kills Raman, creating a void in the underworld which businessman & kingmaker Balaraman (Shammi Thilakan) asks Zakir to fill. Zakir's refusal pits him against the coterie of Balaraman, his partner Devadevan Nambiar (Vijayaraghavan) & Kerala Home Minister Lahel Vakkachan (N.F. Varghese).

Orphaned Lal aka "Lalettan" (Mohanlal) is the senior most & respected student of a college, studying for his 3rd masters degree there. After his ex-flame & ex-classmate Gayathri joins the college as a lecturer, Lal's old feelings blossom again. However, his relationship with the college, students & faculty turns sour after he is accused & arrested for molesting his friend Jeevan's (Sreenath) sister Jyothi (Lizy).

Prince (Mohanlal), wanton son of industrialist Bharathan Menon (K.P. Ummer) settled in Bangalore, gets stuck with a girl Anju (Aishwarya), after Prince & pal Vettikkal Sadashivan (Jagadish) kidnaps her mistaking her for someone else. Anju was actually in town to commit suicide on the same day & time her father Devan Nambiar (Nasser), a death row prisoner, was to be executed. After learning her story, Prince starts to take care of Anju & tries to get her father's death sentence commuted.

Sreekuttan (Mohanlal), a poor & orphaned simpleton, takes a fancy towards a blind flower girl, Shalini (Priya). In trying to organize money for her eye surgery, Sreekuttan gets blamed for attempted robbery & gets jailed. With the money he gives, Shalini's gains eyesight & with the help of a new friend, Dr. Ramakrishna Pillai (Mukesh), Shalini becomes a famous playback singer. Upon his release, Sreekuttan tries to meet Shalini, but faces opposition in the form of Shalini's brother Achu (Johny).

Giri R. Menon (Jayaram), a station master at the hill station of Krishnagudi, in Andhra Pradesh, falls in love with Meenakshi (Manju Warrier), sister-in-law of Army Major Pavithran (Balachandra Menon). Meenakshi, bound to a promise she gave her father (Narendra Prasad) to marry her parentless cousin & spoiled brat Akhilendran (Biju Menon), initially rejects Giri's proposal, but eventually agrees to accept Giri, if Akhil doesn't turn up in 6 months' time.

A retired schoolteacher's (Balan K. Nair) children faces hardships in life, because of being born as women. The eldest, Vimala (Seema) still pines over her ex-lover Vijayan (Ratheesh) who jilted her, the second Susheela (Unnimary) faces abuse & humiliation from her husband Madhu (Lalu Alex) for bearing two daughters, & the third, Rekha (Vanitha) gets gang-raped by the friends of her lover Ravi (Ravindran), & gets arrested for prostitution.

Ivan (Innocent), the middle-class owner of 'Ivan Tile Factory', gets trapped in a labor strike engineered by rival Koyikkal Balan Thampi (T.P. Madhavan) via trade union leader Kozhinjaampara Lolan (Ganesh Kumar). As per the advice of lawyer Susheelan (Siddique) & pal Harishchandran (Jagadish), Ivan goes into hiding, to put the blame of his disappearance on Lolan & to bust the strike. However, things turn sour when Ivan is said to be killed & the cops put the blame on Susheelan & Harishchandran.

Prabhakara Varma (Siddique) & wife, of royal bloodline, gets killed & their gardener Koonikkal Vasu (Murali) jailed for it. Varma's servant Elayath (Captain Raju) saves Varma's daughters Indu & Sindu & escapes to Bombay with them. Years later, Indu (Vani Viswanath) & Sindu (Indraja), now grown up, are back to Kerala for revenge, along with Elayath & his son Munna (Kalabhavan Mani). Their target is have Mukundan (Rajan P. Dev), their father's old servant & whom they believe to be the killer.

Raju (Rahman), industrialist K. Krishna Menon's (Jose Prakash) problem child, gets a raw deal from his step-mom Sumathi (Shubha), after his mom's death & Menon's remarriage. When his girlfriend Rita cheats on him with Sumathi's son by her previous marriage, Ashok (Asokan), Raju snaps & bludgeons Rita, hospitalizing her in a coma. Fearful of the cops arresting Raju, Menon sends him away to Krishnagiri Estates, under the care of Menon's friend Madhavankutty (Mammootty) & his wife Prabha (Shobana).

After Vijayaraghavan (Saikumar), whom his elder brother Govindankutty (Suresh Gopi) had given up his own dreams to educate, becomes an IPS officer, he overturns Govindankutty's wishes to marry fellow boater Kuttan Nair's (M.G. Soman) daughter Amminikutty (Chitra) & instead marries Mini (Renjini), daughter of local bigwig Madhava Panicker (Thilakan). Govindankutty disowns Vijayaraghavan & marries Amminikutty himself, with their mother Naniyamma (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) torn between the brothers' feud.

Vishnu Narayanan (Mammootty), a rich womanizer who lives a bachelor lifestyle away from his wife Seethalakshmi (Saritha) & mother (Sukumari), lends a virgin girl Indu (Mathu) from a pimp, Nair (Murali), for a week. During this period, Vishnu's family happens upon Indu, & in a bid to save his skin, he lies about Indu being his illicit daughter. Now, Seethalakshmi & Vishnu's mother can't let go of Indu, & Nair & Thomas Chacko (Thilakan), Nair's client in waiting, is after Vishnu to get Indu back.

Justice T. Vasudev (Babu Nampoothiri) & businessman Kuwait Mani (M.G. Soman), both pals, gets killed back-to-back & in each case, a piece of coconut husk is found shoved in their mouths. DSP Haridas Damodaran (Mammootty) investigates the case & finds that a friend of theirs, Rosario Fernandes (Devan), was killed the same way 2.5 years ago in Bombay. Haridas's suspicion falls on Rosario's mentally ill son, Christie (Suresh Gopi), who had recently absconded from the asylum he was being treated in.

Sunil (Kunchako Boban), a christian, & Hema (Shalini), a Hindu, both orphans, fall in love & get married without knowing that their partner also was an orphan. After they are forced to come up with their parents to save their faces amongst their neighbors, they "adopt" an elderly couple, Menon (Thilakan) & Sreedevi (Bharathi), from a retirement home. Just as Sunil & Hema warm up to their new-found parents, the elderly couples' real son, Jayan (Saikumar), comes calling, claiming ownership.

Sneha, the 6 year old girl child of famous cartoonist Sachidanandan (Sreenivasan) & wife Anu (Padmapriya), is kidnapped when traveling in a bus from Chennai to Pollachi. Sachidanandan & Sneha had gone there to shoot for an ad film in which Sneha was acting in. C.I. Venkatachala Iyer (Nasser) of Tamil Nadu police investigates the case.

Abdul Khader aka Abdu (Mohanlal) leaves for Dubai after things get heated up at home after his affair with Amina (Soundarya) of the Madappalli family becomes known to Amina's relatives & they bay for Abdu's blood. Upon return few years later however, he finds that Amina is married by Kolarackal Moidukutty Haji (Sreenivasan) as his 3rd wife & is about to be sent off to the village of Koonthalikadavu. Abdu follows Amina to Koonthalikadavu to get her back, but faces stiff opposition along the way.

A Robin Hood-style thief (Mammootty) who robbed from the rich & gave to the poor, pulls off many daring robberies, posing constant headaches for honest cop CI Shekaran (Murali) & also feigns love towards dancer Annie (Shobana) on multiple occasions, to elude arrests. However, when Shekaran is accused of the murder of sensationalist Ambalakkadan Krishnan (C.I. Paul), the thief, the only one who could prove that Shekaran was innocent, comes clean & puts his life on the line to save Shekaran.

Eby Abraham (Mohanlal), an orphan who gets kicked back onto the streets by his foster-father Thomas Abraham's (M.G. Soman) wife (Valsala Menon) after his death, assumes guardianship of 9 orphan kids he finds under various circumstances. After moving to a new town, Eby & the kids are given a chance to better their life by a kind priest (Thilakan). Eby & rich kindhearted girl Annie (Karthika) also fall in love with each other. However, their joys are short-lived when Eby is diagnosed with cancer.

Mamangalam Ponni (Sheela), the coveted girl of the land, has to wed a lowly woodcutter (Prem Nazir) who saved her life, to abide by the law that any virgin accepting clothing from a man, has to be his wife. Ponni makes a warrior out of the woodcutter in 101 days & names him Durgadasan, but now, Durgadasan can only see her as his guru. Meanwhile, her jilted suers - Thacholi Chandu (Ummer), Elavannoor Idumban (Jayan), Kaippali Paachan (Janardanan) & others were planning to get Ponni by any means.

Pavithran Nair aka Pavi (Mohanlal), a struggling road contractor & the black sheep of his family, is dwarfed by the success of his corrupt contractor brother & engineer brother-in-law. The new Municipal Commissioner turns out to be his ex-flame Radha (Shobana), from whom he had bitterly split in college. Pavi's small time duperies in the road work doesn't bode well with Radha, who forbids Pavi from any future work. Enraged, Pavi gets Radha framed for corruption. An abased Radha attempts suicide.

Aspiring singer Nandan (Shankar) falls in love with Devi (Urvashi), with the blessings of their respective mothers, but Devi's father rebuffs him, causing them to plan to wed secretly. Nandan's friend, unruly Sunny (Mohanlal), Sunny's trusty sidekick Vinod (Jagathi) & Sunny's girlfriend Thara (Geetha) offer support & guidance, but their plans are foiled when tragedy strikes in the form of Sunny's accidental death. After Sunny's death, Sunny's friends & family tries to cope with Sunny's loss.

Industrialist Mohandas & Sreedevi dies in a car accident, orphaning their 4 kids Meera, Maya (Joemol), Manu (Tarun) & Manju. Seizing the chance, family & friends descend upon their house with various claims, with their eye on Mohandas's vast wealth. Seeing that the control over their home is slipping away, the kids bring in a rover, Parameswaran (Thilakan), to act as their long-lost grandfather & to chase away others. In the process, Parameswaran also takes moral responsibility for the children.

Ambady (Mohanlal), from the Thacholi warrior family of Kadathanadu, along with his father's old pal & guru Payyampalli Chanthu (Prem Nazir), retrieves the family heirloom Badra sword, which was stolen from them by the Kathiloor family & Kelu of Thulunaadu. But when Ambady also brings back Kelu's niece Sreedevi (Swapna), Chanthu's daughter Kunjulakshmi, who loved Ambady, takes it hard. Kathiloor family exploits the situation & poisons Kunjulakshmi, causing Chanthu to challenge Ambady for a duel.

A unit of Indian Army under Major Pattabi Raman (Mammootty), adopts the village of Ponnarimangalam as a temporary camp, upsetting the local populace, though they eventually warms up to the idea of the security of having the army around. In the course of their stay there, Pattabi discovers that the widow Vimala (Tessa) of officer Nandakumar (Indrajith), whom he had to euthanize, lived there, & also stumbles upon & busts a terrorist plot to poison the potable water of the villagers.

Alby (Jayaram) had dedicated his life for the care of his mentally challenged sister Alice (Sandhya), including caring for Alice's daughter Chippa & sacrificing his own family life. When Alice takes a fancy to street magician Victor Joseph (Vineeth), Alby sees Victor as a threat & tries to get him out of the way. However, when he discovers how deep their relationship was, Alby tries to unite them, knowing only Victor can completely cure Alice.

Balagopalan (Mohanlal), a struggling office worker, takes a fancy to school teacher Anitha (Shobana) & to impress her parents, pawns his prized 8 cent of land to raise Rs. 10,000 for Anitha's litigation crazy dad (Balan K. Nair). After he wins his case & becomes rich though, Anitha's dad gives Balagopalan a cold shoulder & tries to marry Anitha off to advocate Ramakrishnan (Sreenivasan). After losing his land & his job, a dejected Balagopalan decides to leave town to his native village.

Jayakrishnan (Mohanlal), who led a double life as a stingy farmer in his village & as a lucullan quasi-hero amongst his friends in Trichur town, seeks solace in Clara (Sumalatha), an aspiring sex-worker, after being snubbed by the first girl to whom he took a fancy to - Radha (Parvathi). After learning that he took Clara's virginity, Jayakrishnan offers to marry her, but Clara disappears. Later, Radha comes back to Jayakrishnan's life, but Clara's thoughts & a brief reappearance torments him.

Rajiv Menon (Mohanlal), wastrel multi-millionaire & owner of Ratnagiri Plantations, gets obsessed with the idea of having a baby, but without the commitment of a marriage. Annie (Rekha) agrees to be a surrogate mother & bear Rajiv's kid via artificial insemination, in return for financial help to cure her bedridden husband Chandradas (Murali). However, after delivery, Annie becomes attached to the child & refuses to part with him.

Kochu Thresia (Sheela), a rich elderly widow with a lust for life, but alienated by her children caught in the rat race for making money, gets a companion in Reji (Jayaram), a poor but earthy young man with his own share of burdens including coping up with his drunkard father Chacko (Innocent) & his immature ways. Kochu Thresia's & Reji's unique relationship doesn't bode well with Kochu Thresia's children & their spouses who tries to break them up.

An honest lawyer, Sethumadhavan (Mammootty), faces trials & tribulations when he takes up the role of a prosecuting attorney in the murder case of a laborer, Johnny (Lalu Alex), who was killed by Sethumadhavan's brother-in-law Raghuvaran (Sreenath), for fomenting a strike in United Mills, a business concern run by his wife Anu's (Shobana) family.

A 4 year old girl, Deepa (Geethu Mohandas), strikes up a relationship with a stranger, whom she came to call 'Telephone Uncle', over phone conversations. Initially apprehensive of the relationship, Deepa's widow mom Aleena (Asha Jayaram), also grows fond of the stranger, who soon becomes an integral part of their lives, even without meeting in real life. However, unbeknown to them, the stranger carried a dark secret.

Appunni and Ammu are destined to be married, however, when a better man comes along, Ammu's father dumps Appunni for Menonmash.

Commissioner of Police C. K. Balachandran's (Prem Nazir) harmonious family life is ruined when his younger brother, medical grad Babu (Mohanlal), makes a pass towards Balachandran's wife Indu (Lakshmi), in a drunken stupor & Balachandran suspects Babu & Indu to be having an affair. Babu leaves home in disgrace & Indu & their 3 kids gets aliened in the house while Balachandran responds to overtures from visiting relative Usha (Anuradha), with encouragement from Usha's mother Mandakini (Sukumari).

Kuttan Pillai (Innocent), to get his son Vidyadharan (Manian Pillai Raju) married to wealthy Adithya Varma's (Prem Nazir) daughter Kaveri (Menaka), tries to block her planned wedding with Balu (Shankar), brother of Varma's next-door neighbor Sasidharan (Nedumudi Venu). Pillai plants seeds of suspicion in the minds of Varma, his wife Subhadra (Sukumari), Sasidharan & his wife Parvathi (Seema) that their respective spouses were having affairs with their neighbors of the opposite sex.

Ramamurthy (Prem Nazir), a mild middle aged Brahmin comes to Kannur to stay with Balu (Balachandra Menon), a medical rep, to try his luck in becoming one himself. Things doesn't go well for Ramamurthy, & just when he was about to give up, Sujatha (Jayabharati), a friendly doctor, comes to his aid & boosts his spirits. Ramamurthy becomes attracted towards Sujatha but kept it to himself. Sujatha's uncle (Thilakan), meanwhile, tries to get her married to his London-return son, Mohan (Lalu Alex).

After IPS aspirant Rishi Menon (Suresh Gopi) gets rejected in the IPS selection for color blindness, per advice from his girlfriend Megha (Renjini), he starts 'Private Eye', a private detective agency. As his first prestigious case, he investigates the murder of a woman, Jolly (Lizy), & the related disappearance of Roy (Mahesh), a medical student purported to be her lover, at the behest of MP Vishwanathan (Prathapachandran), whose son Arun (Baiju) was also one among the suspects.

Vijay Bhaskar (Mammootty), a well-off builder who lived separated from his wife & who tried to keep his kids Sudhi & Anu away from her, gets into a predicament when a stranger, Hema (Priya Raman), forcibly dons the role of the kids' mother, while they were in Bangalore for a short stay. The kids who had always been on the search for their mom, assumes Hema to be her & doesn't let go, forcing Vijay to play along. Vijay enters into a pact with Hema to continue the act till their stay was over.

Ayyappan Pillai (Karamana Janardanan Nair) & Thankappan Pillai (Thilakan), friends, neighbors & business partners, plans to have Thankappan's son Raju (Rahman) marry Ayyappan's daughter Radha (Ahalya). However, their kids, both of whom who were in love with someone else, blocks the marriage by causing misunderstandings between their families. But when Raju's & Radha's romances fail & they fall in love with each other, now they have to reunite their warring families, for them to unite themselves.

Unwed single mother Vanaja (Urvashi) & her daughter Ashwathy (Meera Jasmine) were more of friends than mother & daughter, but when Ashwathy falls in love with struggling ambulance chaser Ijo (Narein), Vanaja opposes it because Ijo was an orphan, didn't have a family & she wanted to marry Ashwathy off into a big family. Infuriated, Ashwathy demands to know why they didn't have a family themselves & who her father was. Vanaja refused to answer & this drives Ashwathy away from her.

When Revathi Menon (Lizy) refuses to meet her sick father Balan Menon (Gopi), whom she separated from when she was 3 years old when her parents separated & whom she had avoided for the past 16 years, Revathi's roommate & friend Suzanna (Radha), who was an orphan & pined for a father's love, goes to see Balan Menon, pretending to be Revathi.

22 year old Omanakuttan (Dileep), who was still a schoolboy & who didn't take life seriously, had to marry his friend Sudhi's (Krishna Prasad) sister Malathi (Sulekha), when her arranged wedding breaks off. When Malathi gets pregnant, Nambeeshan (Thilakan), Omanakuttan's father, who was providing for Omanakuttan & his wife gets upset over it, causing Omanakuttan to quarrel & leave home. With no education & no hope for a good job, Omanakuttan now has to struggle to survive & provide for his wife.

Balakrishna Kurup (Innocent) is forced by wife Kunjulakshmi (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) to remarry Saraswathi (Zeenath) after they had no luck conceiving. But after Kurup remarries, both his wives conceive, eventually turn enemies & their sons, Madhavankutty (Mukesh) & Krishnankutty (Saikumar), grow up to be rivals. When Radhika (Vaishnavi) of the Valiyakoyikkal family wanted a job at Kurup's school, both his sons vie to get her the job, with their mothers supporting them, each wanting to marry Radhika.

Vinayan (Mohanlal), born into a rich family, gets suffocated by the city life & yearns for the countryside. Finally, he gets a job as a Village Officer in the village of Manikulangara, & in spite of his family's protests, move there. He meets the girl of his dreams, Radha (Neelima), a village belle & marries her. But after the marriage, he is shocked to find that Radha yearns for a city life herself & wanted to leave the village. Radha comes to Vinayan's house in the city, but refuses to return.

Jayan (Mohanlal) veers away from his path of crime after seeing the plight of a poor boy, Unni (Kamal Roy), struggling to support his studies. Jayan befriends the group of college students of which Unni was a part of & tries to relive his lost youth. He also finds his long lost mother-like figure from his childhood, Janakiamma (Sukumari) & her daughter Nirmala (Menaka). However, when Nirmala's marriage life was to be threatened by his old associates, Jayan has to return to his old ways again.

Chandy (Mammootty), a good-at-heart roughneck, comes to the village of Maravathoor to help out his struggling farmer brother Michael (Biju Menon) with his crops. There, with his bluster & courage, he tames local bullies & finds a place in landlord Annie's (Divya Unni) heart. However, Palani Swamy Gounder (Nedumudi Venu), a disgruntled local bigwig who had an eye on Michael's land, spreads rumors about Chandy & Michael's wife Mary (Mohini), which sows seeds of doubt in Michael's & Annie's minds.

After a photographer, Sabu (Boban Alumoodan), dies in a fight & he is blamed for it, Solomon (Dileep) runs away to the remote Karnataka village of Kannadahalli to hide out in the house of two spinster sisters, Anna (Sharada) & Alice John (Bharathi), who used to care for him when he was young. There, after some initial spats, Solomon is drawn close to the sisters' home nurse Sophia (Navya Nair). However, time starts running out for Solomon, while unbeknown to him, Sophia carries a tragic secret.

Girly Mathew (Nadia Moidu), an effervescent girl from Delhi, comes to the town of Karamalloor to reunite with her grandmother, Kunjoonjamma (Padmini). Kunjoonjamma, living a secluded life, angry at Girly's father Mathews (K.P. Ummer) for having taken away her daughter Manikutty & her granddaughter, & blamed him for her daughter's death, refused to accept Girly at first, but Girly wins her over, & they soon become inseparable.

The new Chemistry lecturer in college, Nandakumar Varma (Mammootty), finds it tough to discourage student Sruthi (Annie) who has taken a fancy to him, even after introducing Sruthi to his disabled girlfriend Uma (Shobana), whom Nandakumar had been nursing back to health & for whom he had been remaining a bachelor. Upset over the prospect of losing Nandakumar, Sruthi rebukes Uma, causing her to have a stroke, which worsens her situation. A fully bedridden Uma now asks Nandakumar to marry Sruthi.

Raghavan Thampi (Thilakan) & wife Subadra (Sukumari) force their eldest son, mridangam artist Prabhakaran (Nedumudi Venu), to marry, with the result that he started fighting with his wife Shailaja (Geetha) all the time. Meanwhile, his younger brother Pradeepan (Jayaram) marries Roshni (Urvashi) after lying about him being an orphan. After Roshni ends up being a tenant in the upper level of his own house, Pradeepan now has to play a cat & mouse game to keep both his identities.

Dr. Balasubramaniam (Mohanlal), after his wife Rukmini's (Urvashi) death, devotes his life for raising son Raju Vishwam (Anu Anand), disregarding even his best friend Mani Sankar Iyer's (Nedumudi Venu) sister & coworker Sreelakshmi's (Parvathi) feelings towards him. When Raju goes to college, Balasubramaniam rejoices, but his joys are cut short when Raju dies in a hazing incident in college at the hands of his seniors. The law lets the culprits go free, but Balasubramaniam doesn't forgive them.

Omanakuttan (Shankar), the new bank manager in the village of Kinginikkara, gets into a fix when two salient local ladies, Maheswariyamma (Lakshmi) & Thankamani Kunjamma (Srividya), each believe he was in love with their daughter. Omanakuttan, who really only loved Thankamani's daughter Kavitha (Sabitha Anand), gets scared & runs away to Ooty where he meets a mysterious stranger who saves his life. Hearing Omanakuttan's plight, the stranger agrees to come back with Omanakuttan & clean things up.

Problem teen Pradeep Menon (Harish), whose father had died when he was young & who hated the very sight of his mom, after a string of initial spats with the new girl in school, Daisy Thomas (Sonia), falls in love with her. Just as he found a new meaning in life, tragedy strikes when Daisy is diagnosed with brain tumor. With her time running out, Daisy asks Pradeep for 3 wishes, which he sets out to fulfill.

Vishwanathan (Mammootty) & Janani (Suhasini) fall in love in college & get married, even after Janani's father, famous singer & college principal Ragam Vaidya Nathan (Adoor Bhasi), opposes their relationship. However, later when Vishwanathan becomes a great singer & Janani becomes a renowned dancer, their egos clash, causing Vishwanathan to walk out with their infant. 8 years later, on the verge of Janani being awarded the prestigious 'Natya Sri' award, Vishwanathan returns, for revenge.

Stodgy Menon (Sasi Kumar), a US-return kidney patient, after a long wait, gets a donor in the form of loud-mouthed simpleton Philippose aka Mike (Mammootty) who moves in with Menon into his high-rise flat till the day of the surgery. Mike, who had the tendency to meddle in others' affairs & who had no reluctance to strike up conversations with random strangers, gets on everyone's nerves, including Menon's, but gradually becomes everyone's friend & gets quite close to Menon.

Madhavan (Jayaram), a famous playback singer, often gets embarrassed in public by his paan-chewing, illiterate & uncouth wife Chandramathi (Urvashi), but in spite of all that, he loved her & their 4 kids. When Chandramathi befriends Indulekha (Mamtha Mohandas), who was the exact opposite of herself in looks & behavior, & seeing how happy her kids were with Indulekha, Chandramathi gets the idea of moving out of Madhavan's life & getting him married to Indulekha, figuring that's what he deserved.

Dr. Vinayachandran (Mammootty), a cardiologist & a Hindu, marries Neena (Suhasini), a Christian girl whom he meets in Ooty, after she surmounts her family's stiff opposition. However, soon after giving birth to a girl child, Vineetha, Neena dies in an accident & a distraught Vinayachandran leaves Ooty with Vineetha. Years later, Vineetha & Vinayachandran return to Ooty for a vacation, but Vinayachandran now has to fend off Neena's family who wants them, especially Vineetha, to stay back in Ooty.

Madhavankutty (Jayaram), an Ayurvedic doctor on the death row, accused of two murders he didn't commit, escapes from jail, with the help of jail superintendent Mathew Stephen's (Nedumudi Venu) daughter Emi (Mathu), to prove his innocence. He ends up in a forest area where he is given refuge by Velu Asan (Thilakan), an elderly man, who had mistakenly shot Madhavankutty. Hot on Madhavankutty's trail was cop Nandakumar (Siddique), Madhavankutty's ex-flame Shobha Menon's (Gautami) husband.

When Miss Kerala Princy John (Rekha) comes to her grandfather's (Karamana Janardanan Nair) house for a visit, the young men in the neighborhood goes crazy trying to get her attention, including neighbor brothers Nixon (Siddique), Jackson (Jagadish) & Johnson (Premkumar). However, Princy starts loving a stranger whom she only knew via the love letters she used to get & when her parents fix her marriage to US-based Peter (Suresh Gopi), Princy tries desperately to find her secret lover.

Desperate for cash to marry off his sister Urmila (Sangeetha), music-loving, sports-loving Hariprasad (Jagadish) poses to be the exact opposite of his personality to work at G.G. Chemicals, run by strict Gandhian & Malayalam-lover Menon (Madhu). When Menon catches Hariprasad at a cricket game, Hariprasad invents an unruly identical twin, Giriprasad. Narayanankutty (Jayaram), an invalid, gets a prosthetic leg & a livelihood in the form of a small store, donated by a charity. He also falls in love with Sridevi (Charmila), a school teacher, & just when life was looking good for him, he gets accused of the murder of Sridevi's coworker Hema (Shyama) who was found dead in the village lake & his life is devastated as a result.

36-year old Johnnie Varghese (Mammootty), popularly known as Johnnie Walker because of his love for the whiskey of the same name, joins his brother Bobby's (Jeet Upendra) college to be close with Bobby & friends, despite some opposition from the college management. While there, he tries to clean up the place by locking horns with college bully Swamy (Kamal Gaur) & his godfather, gangster Didi (Gopal Poojari), who were pushing drugs in the campus.

Bubbly Nimisha (Jyothika) arrives for the wedding of her long time Brahmin friend Sreeni (Jayaram), only to realize halfway through the 7-day long festivities that she was really in love with Sreeni & couldn't stand losing him. Meanwhile, the bride-to-be Abhirami (Geethu Mohandas), also shared a similar pain, as she was forced into agreeing for the wedding with Sreeni, even though she was in love with Ambi (Indrajith), her musician father Nellai Ramaswamy's (Oduvil Unnikrishnan) favorite pupil.

When uncouth Achuthan Kutty (Suresh Gopi) shows up at industrialist Sreedhara Menon's (Thilakan) doorstep & claims to be his illegitimate son, Menon refuses to accept him for fear of wrecking his family & societal status. Egged on by Menon's business rival Varma (Rajan P. Dev), Achuthan Kutty sets out on a spree to shame Menon by announcing to Menon's friends & family about himself, without knowing that Varma was just using him to get at Menon to settle their personal differences.

Prakashan (Jayasurya), more interested in loafing around & dreaming of his childhood love Ponnu (Roma), rather than do any work, finally gets his wish when Ponnu's arranged marriage gets called off due to a misunderstanding involving him & finally she decides that she would marry Prakashan. However, the night of the marriage, his dreams are shattered when he is accused of rigging the mishap which caused Ponnu's first marriage to get called off, & shunned by everyone, he is forced to leave town.

They struggle to keep Ikru away from outsiders while trying to figure out his identity & the real reason he was there.

James (James), an impoverished youth, escapes from Kerala after faking his death & comes to Kodaikanal to take up the post of a music teacher at the Hill Valley Public School where his slaphappy ways gall the martinet school manager-owner Maya Johns (Anusha). However, after some initial spats, they get attracted to each other, but Maya's relatives oppose the relationship. James, meanwhile, has his own tragic secret to hide beneath his cheerful self.

Two close friends, Aniruddhan (Mammootty) & Sukumaran (Mohanlal), marry each others' younger sisters, Neelima (Kavita Thakur) & Sujatha (Shobana), respectively. However, after the initial euphoria wears off, Aniruddhan's conservative views started clashing with Neelima's modern outlook, driving them apart. When diplomacy failed in bringing them together, in retaliation, Sukumaran sends Sujatha & their newborn child away to Sujatha's house.

Delhi-based journalist P. Balachandran Nair (Mammootty) investigates the motive behind the unexpected suicide death of his best friend Mathew Joseph's (Sukumaran) wife & poetess Saleena (Suparna Anand).

Kannan (Jagadish), a government office peon, marries Radhika (Rekha), a postgraduate bank employee, in a major mix-up at the temple. Stuck with him per her father's wishes, but repulsed at the thought of being the wife of an unsophisticated & undereducated man, Radhika spurns his advances. Seeking advice from his best friends Govindan (Jagathi Sreekumar) & Hari (Siddique), Kannan tries various ways to woo her and win her heart.

Vivek (Rahman), a happy-go-lucky singer & student meets & falls in love with one of his fans, Kavitha (Shobana), sister of Dr. Rajagopal (Mammootty). They convince either families of their love for each other & get married, but their happiness is short-lived when Vivek is diagnosed with kidney failure.

Young wanderer poet & novelist Sabari (Jayaram), while staying at the government guest house working on his latest novel, meets & falls in love with Devi (Shobana), daughter of judge Rajasekharan Nair, who was in town to investigate corruption accusations against minister Ongalloor Sadasivan (K.P. Ummer). However Sabari's hopes are shattered when he learns that Devi is mute.

Dr. P. K. Haridas (Mohanlal), in repentance for inadvertently causing the death of freshman medical student Unnikrishnan (Vineeth) during a hazing routine while in college, takes up the care & protection of Unnikrishnan's impoverished Brahmin family. In the process, Haridas alienates his relatives & his cousin/girlfriend Bhanu (Geetha).

Mathews (Mohanlal), a farmer, tries to protect his 4 acres of land after Aluva Chandy (Lalu Alex), a rich land grabber tries to oust Mathews & his family under the pretext of building a township in the village of Kodanad. With Chandy, the system & the villagers against him, Mathews fights back with the help of lawyers Sunita (Lakshmi Rai) & Prabalan (Sreenivasan).

Impoverished & jobless young men, Unnikrishnan (Jagadish) & Dasan (Baiju), frees a friendly spirit Chathunni (Innocent) from capture by mistake, who becomes their friend. With Chathunni's help, Unnikrishnan gets back at his evil step-mother Pankajam (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) & tries to win his girlfriend Maya (Mathu), whose father cop Rajagopal (K.P.A.C. Sunny), planned to marry her off to a family friend's son, Vikraman (Shammi Thilakan).

Elephant lover & ex-mahout Ayyappan Nair (Innocent) finally gets to own his own elephant Sreevidya, by taking out a loan. His plans to make money off Sreevidya, whom he buys from a circus company, back fires however, when it turns out that the elephant doesn't understand any Malayalam, and only Hindi. Ayyappan Nair decides to learn Hindi & gets a private tutor in the form of Vinayachandran (Mukesh). But Vinayachandran's real aim was to get close to Ayyappan Nair's daughter Karthika (Sunitha).

Superintendent of Police Varghese Antony (Mohanlal) comes to Savoy Residential School in Ooty pretending to be a physical educator, in search of the child of a dreaded criminal, who Varghese suspected to be studying there & through whom Varghese hoped to get to the father.

Vishnu (Vineeth Kumar) comes to join Padmanabha Menon's (Nedumudi Venu) textile mill as a textile designer & falls in love with bubbly village belle Kanmashi (Nithya Das). However, things get complicated when Menon mistakes Vishnu to be his grandson from his long-lost son Unni (Madhupal), & arranges Vishnu's marriage to his granddaughter Varsha.

Gangster Bava (Thilakan) seeks revenge against Mahendra Varma (Narendra Prasad) of the royal Krishnapuram palace for the atrocities Varma had done to Bava in his younger days. For that, Bava gets out on bail, Varma's son-in-law Hariprasad (Suresh Gopi), who was accused & jailed for having murdered Varma's daughter Lakshmi (Kanaka). Bava's aim was to cause mental anguish to Varma & to later kill Hariprasad & blame that on Varma too, but Hariprasad catches onto Bava's game & tries to outwit him.

Hari (Mohanlal), a welder living in the red-light district of Kamathipura in Mumbai, witnesses a gang-related murder & gets inadvertently involved with the Mumbai underworld. Amar Pakiya (Mahesh Anand), the reigning underworld don of Mumbai, orders the murder of the benevolent local boss Mudaliar (Poornam Vishwanathan), thus taking over Kamathipura's rule till Hari protests their atrocities & fights back. Fighting his way up the crime ladder, Hari soon becomes a name for Pakiya to contend with.

Radhakrishnan (Dileep), although a male, was brought up like a girl by his grandmother who badly wanted a girl child in the family. However, as he matures, he is ridiculed by everyone, gets branded as bad luck & left for dead at sea by Kumaran (Indrajith), who knew of Radhakrishnan's relationship with Malathi (Gopika), the girl whom Kumaran had an eye on. Rescued by Freddie (Biju Menon) & taken to his home beach, Radhakrishnan gets a new lease of life & some serious prodding to act like a man.

Anupama (Manju Warrier), born into a wealthy family, leaves everything to marry Rajeevan (Jayaram) despite her family's stiff opposition. Later they have twin boys, but Rajeevan gives up one child to childless couple Venugopal (Murali) & Devi (Urmila Unni), without Anupama's knowledge, after Devi had had her 4th miscarriage. However, overcome with guilt, Rajeevan confides to Anupama, but a livid Anupama leaves home & gives Rajeevan an ultimatum to only come see her after getting her baby back.

Eradi (Innocent), who ran an old age home for abandoned women, 'Karunalayam', decides to sell it after he gets into financial trouble. To evacuate the place of its inmates so that he could sell the place, Eradi hires Vivek (Prithviraj), a young man out on his first job. Meanwhile, Akhila (Navya Nair) comes to Karunalayam with her mentally ill mother Janaki (Saritha). However, Vivek, who was an orphan, is touched by the love of all the mothers staying there & realizes that he can't evict them.

Sambandham (Kamal Haasan), a typical bejewelled, garish looking stunt master in film and a confirmed bachelor, tries to help his brother Anand (Abbas) who is caught in the quagmire of matrimony. Anand had fallen in love, eloped, and gotten married. His wife Malathi (Sneha) harasses her husband to no end on the advice of her friend, Janaki (Simran Bagga), a sworn spinster. Later, Kamal falls in love with Simran and takes steps to marry her.

Overly superstitious school teacher Sadanandan's (Dileep) world is shattered after charlatan astrologer Mannunnikkavu Krishnanunni (Jagathi Sreekumar) "predicts" his death in a little over a month. Scrambling to secure his wife Sumangala's (Kavya Madhavan) & their daughter's futures, Sadanandan, & later Sumangala too after she learns of the "prediction", count their days with heavy hearts.

In the pre-independence Brahmin community in rural Kerala, Unni Maya (Mohini), a 17 year old is married off to a 64 year old man, who dies soon after, leaving her to lead a life of confinement & ostracism. She gets a ray of hope in the form of Madhavan (Vineeth), a Kathakali artiste, who woos her, but later refuses to accept her out of fear for being banished from the community himself, after she becomes pregnant from their relationship. A trial involving the community elders gets underway.

Neighbors & childhood friends Appukuttan (Benny) & Thanka (Soorya) grow up together falling in love. However, they face stiff opposition from Appukuttan's family on account of Thanka's family being poor. Forced to leave Appukuttan, Thanka decamps with local moonshiner Velu (Nedumudi Venu), who had an eye on Thanka, but whom she hated, to a far off place. However, Appukuttan & Thanka continues to pine for each other.

The patriarch of the Arakkal family, Madhavanunni (Mammootty), dotes over his 4 younger brothers & they in turn are ready to kill or die for Madhavanunni. Patteri Sivaraman Nair (Saikumar), their cousin & Madhavanunni's arch rival, bitter over his constant failures at the hands of Madhavanunni, teams up with Mambram Bava (N.F. Varghese), a communal leader & kingpin, to hurt Madhavanunni by targeting his brothers.

Dr. James Varghese (Balachandra Menon), in spite of being London-educated & having his own hospital, goes to a remote village to join the village's only hospital, run by Dr. Devan (Sukumaran) & his father (Thilakan). Unable to cope with the inhumanities in the hospital, Dr. James leaves them & starts his own clinic, with support from the villagers. After their hospital starts losing business to Dr. James, Dr. Devan plans to eliminate Dr. James.

A deaf & dumb boy, Benny, witnesses two murders, including his own mother's, runs away & ends up in the hands of Kiran (Mammootty), who had been grieving his own family's loss an year ago & had taken to drinking. Kiran forms a deep bond with the boy, but meanwhile the killers had tracked the boy down & were on his tail.

Manu (Rony Vincent) & Annie (Shantikrishna) were lovers & friends from childhood. However, Annie's friendship with her classmate Ananthu (Venu Nagavalli) doesn't bode well with the overly sensitive & jealous Manu, & Manu starts suspecting Annie's fidelity. This strains their relationship & Manu starts seeing another girl, Lalimol (Anitha), to get back at Annie.

With a fake teaching degree, Diwakaran (Mohanlal), who had barely passed the 10th grade, goes to the remote village of Kundankadavu to teach English there at the dilapidated local L.P. (Lower Primary) school. With encouragement from the school cook Sujatha (Menaka), a poor but educated girl, Diwakaran turns over a new leaf & tries to educate himself to be able to teach the students & to reform the school. This pits him against the corrupt & powerful school manager Nambiar (K.P.A.C. Sunny).

Mukundan (Dileep) comes to a rural Karnataka hamlet as a field officer at the local bank, & meets & falls in love with local lass Radha (Kavya Madhavan). Seeing that the previous manager Anthony (Innocent), in cahoots with local goon Thimmayya (Meghanadhan), had been cheating the ignorant denizens, Mukundan resists, with the result that he was framed for peculating the bank & also loses Radha, in a trap set by Anthony & Thimmayya. Years later, Mukundan, now working as a cabby, runs across Radha.

Gouri (Kavya Madhavan) & Shankaran (Munna) were friends & lovers from childhood. Shankaran's orthodox Brahmin family, who were snake worshipers, had a custom where the eldest daughter-in-law would practice celibacy & become the "snake mother", a deity. Despite knowing that she would be next in line after Shankaran's mother's demise, Gouri marries Shankaran, but their joy is short-lived when shortly afterwards, Shankaran's mother, the current "snake mother", dies, forcing Gouri to fill the shoes.

Greedy nurse Sathi (Padmapriya) spurns her bourgeoisie neighbor Venu's (M.G. Soman) advances & goes for Babu (Ravi Kumar), mistaking him to be rich. When it turned out that Babu was broke, she seethes, but later they make up. Later when Sathi's terminally ill patient Sindhu (Sumithra), daughter of millionaire C.P. Menon, eyes Babu, Sathi forces Babu to marry Sindhu with the thought that she can marry Babu after Sindhu's death. However, after the marriage, Sindhu recovers, foiling Sathi's plans.

Impoverished goof-off Alavuddin (Kamal Hassan) comes into possession of a magic lamp, after a sorcerer (Jose Prakash) who tries to procure it through Alavuddin leaves him for dead in a booby-trapped cave. Rubbing the magic lamp summoned a genie Amir, with whose help, Alavuddin becomes a rich & important person & romances the princess of Bagdad, Roshni (Jayabharati), much to the chagrin of Kamaruddin (Rajnikanth), commander of the Bagdad armed forces, who had an eye on Roshni himself.

Two brothers Suresh & Sumesh & their younger sister Sumam, gets separated as children after their dad, rich businessman Sundaresan (Thikkurisi), is murdered by their uncles Kesavan (G.K. Pillai) & Vasu (N. Govindankutty) & their insane mother Soudamini (Santhakumari) is abandoned at an asylum by their aunt Kotha (Sukumari). As adults, fate brings them together & they seek revenge against Kesavan, Kotha & Kesavan's equally evil son Dr. Sekhar (Mohanlal).

Stepbrothers Raju (Mammootty) & Babu (Mohanlal) grew up as thick pals at a boarding school away from Raju's dad Vishwanathan (Madhu) & Babu's mother Sumathi (Srividya), who cohabited. Their family business, a financing company, was run by Vishwanathan & was a thorn in the side of their business rival Thampi (K.P. Ummer). Capitalizing on Babu's love affair with his daughter Maya (Poornima Jayaram), Thampi plays Babu & Sumathi against Vishwanathan & Raju, wrecking their family & their business.

In the backward hamlet of Airavatakkuzhi, henpecked Panchayat president Dushasana Kurup (Gopi) & his clique of corrupt Panchayat members look to raise Kurup's fame by attaching his name to a new bridge, even if that meant destroying the current, perfectly functional bridge. Spreading the rumor that the current bridge is weak, they procure the permission to demolish it & a farce of mammoth proportions ensue in the effort for the new bridge, with everybody in the game seeking personal gains.

Headstrong rich girl Aparna (Geetha) falls in love with dramatist Yatheendran (Mammootty), but he spurns her & her efforts to get back at him ends in Aparna's docile twin Adheena's (Geetha) death. Years later, a penitent Aparna, who now worked at a charity school, runs across Adheena's son Abhimanyu, who was a pupil there, & who was now being raised by Yatheendran. Her tries to bond with Abhimanyu are rebuffed by Yatheendran. At this point, Abhimanyu's biological dad shows up & claims him.

C.K. Achuthan Nair (Murali), the new upright Chief Minister of Kerala, faces various political & personal challenges which perils his tenure - a reprobate & drunk brother Gopan (Vijayaraghavan), a sister Sreekutty (Urvashi) who gets pregnant out of wedlock & his inability to end a 5-year long strike which he had started when he was a trade union leader at a local factory. The factory owner Dhanapalan (Janardanan) & Mathew Stephen (V.K. Sriraman) a cop whom C.K. had suspended, scheme to oust him.

Ananthapadmanabhan aka Ananthan (Mammootty), a fiercely idealistic doctor, testifies against a wealthy criminal, Idicula Abraham (Devan), who gets out of jail after 7.5 years, vowing to make Ananthan's life hell. Gaining the trust of Dr. Nandakumar (Murali), Ananthan's insecure brother, Idicula gets his own brother, Dr. Renjith Abraham (Sadiq), employed at their family hospital & together, Idicula & Renjith destroys Ananthan's & Nandakumar's harmonious joint-family & their hospital's repute.

A circle of close-knit friends' friendship & loyalty is tested by a series of events in their lives - Brahmin girl Veni (Parvathi) falls in love with Tito (Asokan), a Christian, much to the chagrin of Veni's brother Ramaswamy (Jayaram), who dreamt of marrying Veni off into a Brahmin family; Tito's younger sister Fifi (Urvashi) gets pregnant out of wedlock & learns that her boyfriend Saajan (Sreenath) got married elsewhere, & later, Tito himself dies in an accident, leaving everyone broken.

Veena (Bhavna Pani), after hearing that her boyfriend Felix (Mithun Ramesh) had left her to get married to someone else, follows suit to get him back, tagged along by a thief Gopalakrishnan (Dileep), whose recent haul, a precious necklace, had ended up with Veena. Although his initial aim was only to regain the necklace, later Gopalakrishnan promises to reunite Veena & Felix. What follows is a comedy of errors involving a throng of characters who had converged at a hotel for Felix's wedding.

Devaraj (Mohanlal), a new hire at a chemical factory, seeing the militant trade unions & the inept management there, decides to take matters into his own hands & challenges status quo. Shrewd & cunning, he quickly rises through the ranks by uniting the workers & playing his enemies against each other. All through this, he had an ulterior motive - to find the culprits behind his father C.K. Ramakrishnan's (Jagannatha Varma) murder, who several years ago was a security officer at the factory.

Dr. Savithri (Sumalatha) is forced to save the life of the person she hated the most - death row convict Aravindan (Mammootty), who had killed her father Madhava Menon (Karamana Janardanan Nair), after he escapes from jail & is subsequently shot by the cops. After saving Aravindan's life, Savithri gets a chance to listen to the circumstances regarding the murder from nurse Tresa (Parvathi), which puts things in a different light for her & she starts thinking about letting Aravindan escape again.

Soorya Narayanan (Mammootty), an orthodox Brahmin man leading a normal disciplined life, once in an attempt to rescue his pet parrot, climbs a tall tree, gets vertiginous & has to be rescued. The incident affects his mind, making him clairvoyant, & amongst other things, he makes predictions about disasters, a crooked company adulterating baby food & finally his own death.

Four people from different backgrounds - rich businessman Roy (Jayaram), roughneck Amir (Jayasurya), musician Surya (Kunchako Boban) & medical student Gaury (Meera Jasmine), all cancer patients on their final stages of the disease, meet at a cancer care center & become deep friends. Wanting to enjoy their remaining days to the fullest, they embark on a foreign tour funded by Roy, with Malaysia as their first stop.

In the patrician Mangalath family, the patriarch (Thilakan) rules over with an iron hand, with his daughter Bhargavi (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) & her family impatiently waiting for his death to lay their hands on the family wealth. Into this walks in Miranda (Shobana), the patriarch's estranged son's daughter, born & raised in Mumbai, after leaving her promiscuous mother & lecherous stepfather behind. Miranda finds a home at the Mangalath mansion, but her mother & stepfather follow suit to get her back.

Rich girl Mareena (Seema) falls in love with poor man Alex (Sukumaran), drawing the ire of her stodgy father Chacko Pillai (Jose Prakash), who had no intention of accepting the poor & low-caste Alex. Then, Alex disappears overnight to be never seen again, & everyone's suspicion falls on Pillai. Mareena loses her mental stability & Pillai seeks the help of an exorcist (T.G. Ravi) to cure her. Meanwhile, Alex's younger brother Peter (Ratheesh) had become a cop & continued to search for Alex.

Thomas Kurien (Balachandra Menon), a Christian, & Saraswati (Shobana), a Hindu Brahmin, fall in love & get married, & as a result get ostracized by their families. However, when they have a baby girl, both families reconcile & visit them. But Thomas's & Saraswati's troubles were only getting started, after both their culturally different families start fighting for dominance, each putting forth demands for raising the kid in adherence to their religion & finally causing for the couple to split.

Pirappancode Prabhakaran (Jayaram) & Pindimana Paulraj (Jagadish), two out of work drama artists, finds themselves in a caper after they try to rescue rich heiress Yamuna (Anusha) who was illegally detained at a mental asylum by its owner Dr. Krishnakumar (Rizabawa), who was seeking revenge against Yamuna for jilting him. To get close to Yamuna, Prabhakaran poses as a madcap himself & gets admitted there, but things don't go per plan when Prabhakaran gets stuck there with no means of escape.

Chanthappan (Narendra Prasad) & Chathukkutty (Nedumudi Venu), two lifelong friends, the former a Kalari artist & the latter a singer, are the prominent individuals of the village, each of them having 5 sons each. Into this walks in beautiful Meera (Annie), their new tenant, causing Chanthappan's & Chathukkutty's sons to fall over each other to get her attention. But Meera later claims to be Chathukkutty's lovechild, throwing Chanthappan, Chathukkutty & their sons into confusion.

Middle class man Haridas (Jagadish) marries Shailaja (Urvashi), who was born & brought up in a wealthy family. After the marriage, Shailaja is unable to adjust to the modest ways of Haridas's household, & in an attempt to get Haridas under her control, she rebels & finally forces Haridas to separate from his joint family & move to a rented house with her. Later, discords appear between them, which causes for them to separate.

Unni (Balachandra Menon) & Pushkaran (Manian Pillai Raju), two impoverished young men, ekes out a living by doing odd jobs & small-time con jobs. Unni is told by a holy man that a middle-aged lady would come into his life & bring him good fortune, causing for Unni & Pushkaran to warm up to every middle-aged lady they met, although the aftermath of every encounter results in bad luck for the two.

Ashwathy (Kavya Madhavan), a Hindu, after her husband dies in an accident, goes to Saudi Arabia as a house maid. There, she faces terrible abuses in the hands of her employers, escapes from there, goes missing & is later accused of theft. Razak Kottekkad (Sreenivasan), a social worker, takes an interest in her case, & tries to track her down.

Mohan (Mammootty), a school teacher, who was crazy about acting, jeopardizes his teaching career & family in search of a role. After being told by a director that Mohan needs to know the characters better for a violent crime movie the director was planning, Mohan joins a criminal gang to observe them in the hope of bagging a role in the movie, but soon is unwittingly drawn himself into the world of crime.

Savithri (Zarina Wahab), a girl from a poor household is cheated with promises of marriage & impregnated by rich playboy Surendran (Mohanlal). She gives birth to the baby, but the baby hence dies. Picking up the pieces, Savithri gets a new lease of life in the form of benevolent widower Vishwanathan (Ratheesh), but Surendran tries to edge back into her life with threats of exposing her past to Vishwanathan, who was unaware of it.

Middle-aged couple Unnithan (Prem Nazir) & Ammini Kutty (Lakshmi) leads a love-hate relationship, with Unnithan constantly frustrated by Ammini's references to her father's wealth & grandeur, with their grownup daughters Sarala (Jalaja) & Parvathi (Poornima Jayaram) often playing the mediators to establish peace. Unnithan finally snaps after Ammini accuses him of an affair with their neighbor Annie (Sukumari) & of fathering a love child, & storms out of the house.

Gracy (Sharada) was a leading actress of the yesteryear who discontinued acting & disappeared from the limelight. Now mentally imbalanced, Gracy lives a life of relative solitude, with a couple of helpers. Aleena (Mamta Mohandas), a journalist, walks into Gracy's life with the intend of doing a documentary on her, but soon Aleena's interests also spread out to uncovering the real reasons behind Gracy's departure from the cinema & the cause of her mental illness.

Vimala (Urvashi), & her 3 sisters, Ganga (Rakhi Raveendran), Yamuna (Vidya) & Unni Maya (Unni Maya), run an old movie theater which used to belong to their mother. Moorkhanparambil Pappachan (Vijayaraghavan), the local moneybag, has his eyes on the theater & cooks up various schemes to close down the theater & defame Vimala & her family. The new Panchayath Secretary Venugopal (Mukesh), Vimala's old friend & crush, comes to their rescue.

T. G. Ravindran aka Ravi (Shankar), a convict doing life, breaks out of jail to seek revenge against Prasad (Cochin Hanifa), the person responsible for his sister Sathi's (Sumithra) death & for a murder for which Ravi was wrongly accused of & jailed. Ravi hides out in a house which happened to be the house of cop Sreekumar (Mammootty), who was married to Ravi's former girlfriend Shalini (Menaka). Ravi takes their daughter hostage to bide time till he got to kill Prasad.

Pillai (Prem Nazir), a village simpleton who spent his time goofing around with a bunch of kids, takes a fancy to Sasikala (Seema), the new lady cop in town & in a bid to win Sasikala's affection, Pillai takes off on a quest to be a man. Meanwhile Sasikala is wooed by the Sub Inspector of Police at her police station, Premkumar (Ramu), & they decide to marry. Pillai returns a new man, but is devastated at the prospect of losing Sasikala to Premkumar & decides to commit suicide.

Shankaran (Mohanlal), a Brahmin youth, lives in constant frustration at being unemployed, with a drunkard father who used to be a famous singer & his stepmother & stepsister. His frustration at life causes him to snub the overtures of Bhama (Ambika) who was in love with Shankaran. After a showdown with his family, Shankaran leaves for Madras, while Bhama is married off elsewhere. However, Shankaran & Bhama meet again in Madras & he learns of her loveless married life with Mani Iyer (Murali).

Three freewheeling bachelors, Unni (Jayaram), Boney (Mukesh), & Vinod (Saikumar), find their lives changed forever when they find a baby girl abandoned at their doorstep. Struggling to take care of her, the frustrated trio tries to get rid of her initially, but the baby always ended up back in their arms. Just as they started to love the baby & get attached to her, the biological mother of the baby, Maya (Urvashi), shows up & demands her back.

Frustrated by her mediocre life not befitting a doctor's wife in her mind, Subalakshmi (Sona Nair) pushes her husband, homeopath Bhargavan Pillai (Innocent), to live beyond their means, including pledging their house to contest a Panchayath election & hocking his scooter to buy dresses for a wedding. All excesses come home to roost however, when their actions culminate in the bank arriving to possess their house for failure to repay their debts.

Coming from poor backgrounds, 3 best friends & Engineering students, Selvam (Adoor Govindankutty), Rahul (Rahul Menon) & Zulfi (Anu Anandhan) resort to con jobs & robberies to fund their new, lavish lifestyles. They decide to pull off one last big heist before hanging up their spurs, but they find their intended victim, businessman Chandran (Salim Kumar), killed when they break into his house. Now answerable for murder, the trio go on the run from the cops & try to find Chandran's real killer.

At the famous Lakshmipuram palace, princess Lakshmi (Mathu) is 3 months away from becoming major, & the palace receiver Sivashankaran is scared of her asking for the palace accounts, which would expose the peculation he committed. Sivashankaran tries to get Lakshmi to marry his son Sudhakaran (Vijayaraghavan), but fails. Lakshmi's cousin Ravi Varma (Devan) who had his eye on her & her assets, comes down to marry her, but she takes a fancy to her music teacher Vishnu (Saikumar) & elopes with him.

The film has 4 separate chapters - 'Kallante Makan' (The Thief), 'Niyamavum Neethiyum' (The Police), 'Oru Koottukaran' (Two Men and a Woman), 'Pankiyamma' (One Woman and Two Men) - each based on independent short stories written by Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai. The film is about 4 crimes of different nature that happen in different contexts and situations. The setting is the Princely State of Travancore, South India in the 1940s.

Unnikrishnan (Prince), a poor bright student, is given financial support & a place to stay by his professor (Nedumudi Venu), & later Unnikrishnan & the professor's daughter Veena (Rashmi Kailas) fall in love. However, Veena is diagnosed with a terminal illness & not wanting to ruin Unnikrishnan's life, she pretends to hate him & pushes him away. Unnikrishnan marries Lakshmi (Menaka), a blind girl, & Veena expresses her wish to donate her eyes to Lakshmi after her death.

Mohandas (Mammootty), a coward, is forced to give up his teaching job & join the police force as a Sub Inspector after his father Chathukutty (Sankaradi) threatens to commit suicide if he didn't. Posted to the troublesome village of 'Muthalakkundu', Mohandas tries to appease the local bigwig Ananthan Nair (M.G. Soman) so as not to get into trouble, but is eventually forced to side with the oppressed villagers, which doesn't bode well with the influential Nair who gets him transferred.

Jayadevan (Ratheesh), a hotel receptionist struggling to support his two sisters - Saritha (Seema), who was separated from her husband & Viji (Shobana), who lost her leg in a car accident, is diagnosed with brain tumor. Turning desperate, he pretends to be a murderer the cops were looking for, in exchange for the reward money. However, later he is cured & realizing the only way for him to get his life back was to find the real killer, Jayadevan escapes from custody & sets out in search of him.

The lives of various people intersect at Trivandrum Lodge, a decrepit lodge in the heart of Kochi. The owner of the lodge is Ravishankar (Anoop Menon), a rich widower who kept the lodge intact due to sentimental reasons. The government, taking stock of the real estate in that area, asks Ravishankar to prove his ownership of the lodge, but after Ravishankar is unsuccessful in finding the lodge's documents, the inmates are faced with eviction.

DCP Madhava Menon (Mohanlal) of Mumbai police, also known as "Mad Maddy" because of his temperamental character, is an encounter specialist who kills off criminals rather than risk them getting off via legal loopholes. Maddy's teenage daughter is kidnapped by a child sex trafficking gang led by Khais Khanna (Murli Sharma) & smuggled to Kerala with the intention of selling them off overseas. During the summer, as her family is away, Savithri gets to know Shishir more, & as she finds herself attracted to him, she is torn between the thoughts of her family & her feelings for him.

RAW agent Sreedhar Prasad (Suresh Gopi) & deputy Murthy (Vijayaraghavan) come to the remote barren area between the Kerala-Karnataka border to investigate a bus explosion which killed 30 innocent college students. Prasad's investigations lead to a sinister spy racket which was leaking state secrets about Indian rocket/missile technology to enemy countries, lead by business magnate Shankar Dev Rana.

As a young politician, Tarun Singh Deol (Saiju Kurup), who is suspected of having embezzled Rs. 5000 crores, comes from Delhi to Kerala to launder his money, the cops decide to trail him. A lookalike of Deol, Rafeeq Ahmad (Saiju Kurup), also happens to take the same flight from Mumbai, to transport the DVD of a pirated Malayalam movie from Dubai to Kerala. Chaos ensues when Deol & Rafeeq are mistaken for each other, & are kidnapped by different gangs.

Set in late 1950s Kuttanad, Guru Dasan (Lal) was a famed singer from the low-caste Pulluvar group, who had two wives, Janaki (Lakshmi Lahari) & Chakkara (Iniya). A serial womanizer, Dasan also is drawn close to Devaki (Lena), an upper-caste Brahmin & the wife of the village landlord as well. Their relationship however, results in a severe fallout for Dasan.

Kuttikrishnan (Jagadish), the illicit son of businessman Ananthan Nambiar, comes to Kochi to meet his dad, but a mix-up leaves him on the streets & another young man, Balagopalan (Mukesh), in his place as Nambiar's son. To expose Balagopalan, Kuttikrishnan teams up with cutpurse Mukundan (Jagathi) & car-thief Meenakshi (Annie), both of whom ensconce themselves in Nambiar's house as Kuttikrishnan's relatives. Worried about the future of his 2 sons, the blind Unni (Sreenivasan) & the deaf Balan (Mukesh), businessman Sreedharan Nair (Thilakan) decides to provide them with life partners & gets them married to Geetha (Anju) & Anjali (Mathu) respectively. However, things don't turn out as planned for Sreedharan when his sons' in-laws move in & try to control things & brainwash Unni & Balan. Sreedharan plans an elaborate drama involving a fake long-lost son (Siddique) to make Unni & Balan see the light.

Varikkuzhiyil Asokan Nair (Mukesh), an unemployed man struggling to support a large extended family, gets a lifeline when he hears that a long-lost uncle who had run off decades ago & who had made it big in Maduranthakam, Tamil Nadu had expressed a desire to get his daughter Rajavalli married to Asokan, before he passed away. Asokan & his family arrives in Maduranthakam only to find that Rajavalli was self-centric & arrogant & Asokan takes a fancy to Rajavalli's demure maid, Sreedevi (Mathu).

Reena (Malavika Nair), a young servant girl has been disfigured in an acid attack, & in the ensuing investigation by the cops, two key figures are interrogated - one is Benny (Mithun Murali), an employee at a neighborhood gas station who was in love with Reena, & the other, Aarthi (Samskruthy Shenoy), a schoolgirl & Reena's employers' daughter. Both interrogations tell parallel stories which lead up to unraveling the reasons behind the attack on Reena.

David (Jayasurya), an orphan who was raised by priest Fr. Gerald (P. Balachandran) in a church in Vagamon, grows up to be a timid young man. His favorite past time was working on electrical & electronic components & inventing gizmos. One of his works, a pedal-powered electric generator, lands in the hands of inventor & angel investor Sunny Ulahannan (Anoop Menon), who seeks out David. Sunny uses David's technology to launch a commercial product & get rich, but fails to give David due credits.

Julie (Shamna Kasim), an Anglo-Indian girl living in Coonoor, falls in love with her best friend Usha's (Shelly Kishore) elder brother Sasi Warrier (Hemanth Menon), a Hindu boy. Rebecca Uthup (Ann Augustine), a promising athlete, has to deal with family issues, when her engagement to Kuruvila (Jishnu) is disrupted when she is accused of having an affair with her coach & friend Arjun (Sidharth Bharathan). Earlier, Rebecca's marriage to Kuruvila was planned by her uncles (Sreekumar & Shanawas) as a means to keep the family wealth from going outside.

Ananthu (Mohanlal), a music conductor & director, helps his girlfriend Meera (Rekha) become a playback singer, but he is forced to take a backseat when Meera, under duress from her mother (Unnimary), snubs Ananthu for Gopikrishna (Shankar), the leading male playback singer. After his mother dies in an attack meant for him & his father leaves town, Ananthu leaves for the US to practice music. Returning a famed musician after 5 years, Ananthu starts a new band & also reconciles with Meera.

In pre-indepedent India, Sivasubramania Iyer (Mohanlal), a revolutionary young Brahmin man, goes against the social norms & becomes a communist to fight for the downtrodden workers. Urumees Tharakan (Suresh Gopi), a rich man's son on his way to a lucrative government career, drops everything & joins him. Together, they take on the Diwan (Nasser) & the very concept of the Diwan rule.

Kalyana Krishnan (Mukesh), a Brahmin, & Mary Nirmala (Annie), a Catholic, marries secretively with the help of their friends, but without the knowledge of their families. When the cat gets out of the bag, & Krishnan props up Nirmala as a Brahmin girl, Sivakami, to mitigate his family's anger. As Krishnan & Nirmala try to make everyone believe that she is a Brahmin, Krishnan's elder brother Ananthakrishnan (Harisree Asokan), angry at Krishnan for having married ahead of him, tries to expose them.

Nandagopalan (Mohanlal), an alcoholic due to his tormented past, but a talented teacher at the Kerala Kalamanidram school of performing arts, takes a liking to his student Malavika (Monisha) & casts her as the lead for his magnum opus dance piece 'Seetharamayanam'. Somashekaran (Vineeth), another student at the school who loved Malavika, misunderstands Nandagopalan's & Malavika's relationship, gets jealous & plots to sabotage the dance performance.

A pair of government enforcement agents - Alex (Balachandra Menon) & Malathi (Suhasini) - battling illicit foreign currency & money laundering, takes on a gang doing the same, led by Rocky Fernandes (B. Thyagarajan).
