Biography: The son of German comic performer Ludwig Manfred Lommel, Ulli Lommel began his career in show business as a child. His older sister, Ruth Lommel, appeared in a number of films in the 1940s and '50s. After appearing in several features, Ulli Lommel met Rainer Werner Fassbinder and joined his acting/production entourage. While working with Fassbinder, Lommel turned to directing as well as performing. His output has ranged from brilliantly accomplished drama with traces of exploitation elements, to out-and-out B-movies with a few distinctive artistic flourishes.
