Young Frankestein achieves to be a comedy with some substance. Igor was a nice addition to the bunch, although I expected more from him. At least the monster had a good ending too.

Halloweentown High (2004) - Rated 13 Oct 2026

I found myself enjoying this more than the first movie. This one seemed more solid in terms with the addition of more characters (though in this one Sophie is sadly pretty absent). The plot still felt shaky with the part of the antagonist... I appreciated the nice ending and the partially good effects (slightly better than the two previous movies).

Nicely paced, lively dialogue and enjoyable mystery. I expected some of the revelation but not the one about Mr. Green, lol.

I quite enjoyed the well-done portrayal of the ghosts and the satisfactory plot with its good ending.

The Witches of Eastwick (1987) - Rated 11 Oct 2026

Nice ambiance, good actors but not solid enough of a plot. Funny at times and honestly... nonsensical...

Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge (2001) - Rated 05 Oct 2026

Totally unecessary due to the botched job of a plot. There was a good precipice for a nice series of these sweet, magic-oriented, family Halloween movies but the execution is done so poorly! The effects were slightly better than the previous one (the broom flying scene was a favorite). It's light and fun to watch, sure, and kids will like it nonetheless, but if there was more thought and work put into this, it would have been a better hit.

The Canterville Ghost (1996) - Rated 05 Oct 2026

Sticks somewhat true to the novel's story; what with the dark and old-timey aesthetic, which I enjoyed, but the humorous side is nowhere to be seen. Anyways, aside from the vibes eveything else was mediocre. There was a brilliant story for the base and yet they executed it horrendously.

Hubie Halloween (2020) - Rated 03 Oct 2026

Quirky movie in a bad way. Tried so hard to be funny but it was cringe. The writers, or whoever, decided to have fun I suppose... Well, don't because this was piss-poor. The only funny ones for me were the black couple that owned Peanut, everyone else was awful.

Halloweentown (1998) - Rated 03 Oct 2026

The plot might not be something crazy but I did enjoy the acting. I'm surprised though at the fact that this is a Disney movie and yet the effects were so poor. Lovely late 90's vibes though.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) - Rated 02 Oct 2026

I know this was based on the musical but oh my, I HATED the singing. It happened too many times for my liking and it was piss-poor at best. The plot on the first half was boring me, however it got better, darker and bloodier by the second half which was the only part I partially enjoyed. Nice, tragic end; have to give it that.
