The fun concept is done no favors by the inherent flaws of Disney Channel movies (cheap effects, bad acting, poor pacing, Casio soundtrack). Passable for little kids but few others.

Another Disney Channel original movie, which explains the escapism, bad writing, and the contrived ending. However, the costume work is fun if not convincing, and this gets some bonus points if you watch it during October.

Pretty typical Disney Channel original movie for-kids shenanigans, mildly amusing, cheesy, harmless, forgettable.

Pretty awful, but sometimes fun to make fun of. The nerd brother was the best part.

Pretty fun to mock. SPOILER. I hated that nerd brother comic relief character. I wish he had no magical powers.

Fun enough for what it is, but the premise can't be done full justice by Disney Channel and that's its biggest drawback. Debbie Reynolds gives a fantastic performance, though, really selling the witchy grandma role in every way possible. But the plot is lacking, the twist is a bit deflating, and the conclusion is dragged out to what's ultimately a bit of a boring end. This is one of those movies you remember being a lot more than it really is, especially if you saw it as a kid.

It's a cute, fun concept that remains a bit undefined, and so you never know how seriously you're meant to take the movie. This quickly became a cult classic, and I can see the appeal. It's rather mediocre, though, and I think it has its vagueness to blame.

One of the three good Disney channel original movies. I still don't mind watching it.

Not only is it one of my favorites, but it is also one of Disney's best made for TV movies. Still that isn't saying much.

Can't say I liked this one. I didn't see it as a kid, so none of the nostalgia factor is there, but I feel like this was even dated and slow in 1998. Debbie Reynolds isn't given much to work with, and honestly doesn't do a lot with the material she does have.

If you're into the Halloween aesthetic, this is the town for you. Starring a perfect foreshadowing to what Carrie Fisher would look like 20 years later.

Ah, a Halloween classic. It hasn't exactly aged well, and a few of the characters are completely unlikable (not to mention pretty much everybody's questionable motivations), but I still loyally return to this movie every year. Call it nostalgia if you must, but I thoroughly enjoy this one.

Halloweentown is just good fun for all ages. This movie isn't something that will win any Oscars but that doesn't mean that it is without merit. A young girl finds out that she is destined to become a witch. She goes with her grandmother to Halloweentown and uncovers a plot to take over the town. I like these family friendly Halloween movies. I don't need every Halloween movie to be a horror movie. It's fun and watchable and something that we can forget until next year.

A fun family friendly movie that was fairly decent for having aired on tv first. A few moments where younger children might be a bit spooked and the acting is a bit rough in parts.

Its a Disney channel movie from the late 90s -- it plays out exactly as you expect it. Very cheap special effects, goofy acting, heartwarming moments, hit and miss jokes. Sometimes the actors really make the costumes come alive, other times its just a guy in a cheap mask walking around. If you really enjoy Halloween and have a special place in your heart for dorky movies it might be worth a watch, if you expect anything of serious quality you should skip this one.
