Awakenings (1990) - Rated 16 May 2025
The Way, Way Back (2013) - Rated 29 Mar 2025
"Decent. I still think that Empire Records did it better. Maybe it was the music. Maybe it was the female lead. Maybe I was a different person. Still a fun watch, but not a category definer."
Wonka (2023) - Rated 23 Dec 2023
"I don't know whether time, budget, artistic direction, or the pandemic changed the outcome of this film, but sure as anything something did. It could have been brilliant, a new 'Producers', but it fell short. Such a shame."
The Holdovers (2023) - Rated 15 Dec 2023
"Goodness me. What a tale. What an end. I need a sequel to know that life treated them all ok after the events of the movie. But I probably won't get one. Because life is like that. Good movie, recommended watching."
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023) - Rated 29 Nov 2023
"I think that this movie will hold a place into the future. I think for Hunger Games fans that cross over into Star Wars this movie does a much better job of showing what creates a monster. I think it was very impressive in this way, while staying true to the original themes of the Hunger Games."
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022) - Rated 11 Nov 2023
"What the? Bad just doesn't seem adequate. Awful maybe."
We Have a Ghost (2023) - Rated 20 Oct 2023
Good Night, and Good Luck (2005) - Rated 27 Aug 2023
"I am unsure what I saw so it is hard to critique. Certainly the trailer made it look like compelling viewing, and the critiques to date consider it highly. I saw neither of those things so I figure the problem is me."
DC League of Super-Pets (2022) - Rated 20 Aug 2023
"It's true it's no Lion King, but in a world in which everyone is looking for their place, it's not a half bad movie either."
Kick-Ass (2010) - Rated 15 Jul 2023
"I didn't realise until the end that it was based on graphic novels. I thought perhaps it was an antimatter consideration to the world of comic books. I certainly thought it was a lighter treatment of the genre, more a Guardians than a Captain America. Enjoyable but not a knock out."
