Expertly crafted. Boasting wonderful cinematography and a Shakespearean plot, this is a prime example of Japanese new wave cinema done right.

Forbidden Zone (1980) - Rated 20 Aug 2021
What can I say? It's short, zany and has a unique tone. This is worth watching for Danny Elfman's music alone, although the movie itself can be a little grating at times. It's not a masterpiece by any stretch but I enjoyed it.

I had a good experience with this film, even though I thought it was somewhat flawed. I also thought it was funny, so I gave it a funny score.

La Casa Lobo (2018) - Rated 17 Aug 2021
I liked the art direction a lot and the animation was wonderful. But the narrative was too abstract and I felt it lacked direction.
