After escaping from a religious colony in Chile, Maria seeks shelter in a mansion where she’s taken in by two pigs, its only inhabitants. Like in a stop-motion dream, the universe of the house reacts to her feelings. The animals slowly morph into humans and the house into a dark, menacing world. (mubi.com)

Jaw-dropping. Quite possibly the most incredible feat of animation I've ever witnessed. This is visually arresting in the purest sense of the phrase. I planned on having dinner while watching this... my food went cold and uneaten. I was visually arrested. My ass went to visual jail. I could not look away from the screen for the entire duration.

Paul Shaffer did WHAT?! A total nightmare, stop motion animation like this has always creeped me out. From the David Lynch shorts to the hellish MadTv claymations this falls in between. I'm very thankful I have never experienced real trauma, I read up on what this was about afterword and there isnt a yuck big enough.

I liked the art direction a lot and the animation was wonderful. But the narrative was too abstract and I felt it lacked direction.

Could not finish it. Might be a marvelous exercise in stop-motion animation, but it bored me to death

what the, what the ... that must be an enormous amount of labour to create this. by the way, take all the spoken words and sentences and create a Duolingo tree for me, por favor!

Great art direction that leaves a lot to be wanted narrative wise. Tries to be unsettling but ultimately tries too hard on all front

With such impressive animation on display, my total obliviousness as to what was unfolding onscreen feels somewhat dismissible, if not forgivable. Feelings I associated with its abstract story were mainly those of sorrow and distress, but I won't pretend to uncover more about its meaning circulating underneath before I revisit the film in the future.

Storytelling is full of symbolism and explores Maria well, but the plot itself isn't always paced the greatest. However, the stop motion animation is great, full of awesome imagery and the style fits the message well. Also just love how instead of cutting to new areas it's shot kinda like a handicam and things just transition, melting away and forming instead of more conventional cuts.

Can’t even imagine the talent and the effort involved in this one. Though I am not impressed with the narrative or story.
