"Garland might be the most hit or miss director working in movies today. This is a miss and the writing is totally at fault. The scenes without dialogue are the best ones and many are quite beautiful. The concept of Civil War II resting on California and Texas being allies, the opening scene of a suicide bomber at a water ration line which makes no sense even in-universe, The film has basically nothing to say about the ethics or responsibilities of war photography which is ostensibly its purpose."

"Comes down to if you can enjoy an hour and a half of Brad & George banter, which I certainly can. These fellas are AARP age by now but I still found them charming and amusing."

"Suffers a little from Netflix writing and having the characters often flatly declare "this is who I am" and "this is what I am doing and why" so that someone on their phone can keep pace. When Supe said something to the effect of 'maybe sincerity is the real punk rock' I groaned out loud in the theater. But it is very funny, I didn't doubt Corenswet as Superman for a second, and there is a lot to like."

"I wondered why there were so many American actors doing bad European accents at the beginning, but by the end realized it's because this is an American movie for Americans. When this came out PSH's character must have read like a Jack Bauer or Dirty Harry, a man who will go outside the law for justice. In 2025 this man is a PSYCHOPATH, illegally capturing and detaining civilians, interrogations, coercion, manipulation, illegal surveillance, etc all motivated by pretty naked Islamophobia."
