One of the best movies about relationships I have ever scene. You watch them fall madly in love and then madly fall out of love. Definite Oscar snubs for Gosling and Williams on this film. Truly heartbreaking because it rings so true.

As somebody that began their love affair with cinema as a child watching sleezy action movies of the 80s and 90s, this would seem to be right up my alley. Too bad it is boring and devoid of any of the charm and fun found in the classic action romps the majority of the cast starred in. Terry Crews seems to be the only one having any fun here, and he is not even a classic action star!

I really hope Peter Jackson will make another film like this one day. It is pure insanity in the best way possible and shows a young filmmaker that is full of creativity and inspiration going for broke. The climax is rightly the stuff of legend, featuring more blood than probably any other film in history. This is usually categorized with horror, but it is undoubtedly a comedy, using gore for outrageous gags. One of the most underrated films out there.

Inglourious Basterds (2009) - Rated 03 Aug 2014
Some of the dialogue scenes here are too indulgent and should have been snipped a little bit, but this beast of a movie essentially is two interconnected stories. One follows Aldo Raine and the Basterds as they hunt Nazis in France, while the other follows Shosanna and her desire for revenge for those that killed her family. The two stories inevitably collide in a superb final chapter.

After Casino Royale, this film was way too short, too thinly plotted, and the action scenes too incomprehensible when compared to Martin Campbell's previous effort. Craig is in fine form, but the lack of a good female lead, compelling villain, or any notable tension makes this a serious downgrade from Bond's celebrated rebirth.

Bond Begins. Excellent reboot that reinvigorates the franchise with an edge similar to Bourne, but it keeps the swagger of Bond firmly in place. Craig owns the role and the parkour chase early in the film is one of the best set pieces of the last ten or fifteen years.

The dawn of Ahnuld. Seriously, though, this is a smart little sci-fi thriller that just manged to become a blockbuster franchise with the films that followed. Great concept and excellent execution make this a land mark of the genre.

More classic 80s Ahnuld. A genius concoction of 80s Hollywood, you get two action flicks in one in this masterpiece of the genre. Starts out as musclebound commandos fighting bad guys in the jungle. That combined with Arnie's awesome one liners and more testosterone than you thought was possible in a movie would have been enough, but midway through, the iconic alien shows up and you get a tense, hunter versus hunted showdown for the ages. Awesome stuff.
