Adolescence (2025) - Rated 10 Jul 2025
"The one take approach is an incredible feat by itself. But the story is also captivating. Makes you question the motivation for murdering and kind of dives into the headspace of a person that is capable of that. Everything is so believable. And you really feel for the family and can relate to the feeling of not being able to understand it or see it coming. Just an overall masterpiece."

Ramy (2019) - Rated 08 Jul 2025
"Had high hopes for this because I really like Ramy Youssef. But it's just not a comedy. Got through most of season 1 and barely laughed. As a drama, it's ok, but it seems only somewhat fleshed out, needing laughs that aren't there. So ultimately it isn't a comedy, and it misses the mark as a drama."

"Very strong Succession vibe. Music is the same, and the super rich bro characters fit that mold. It just doesn't quite have enough time to build it out. The humor / satire is a little bit subtle in places, but it scorches tech bro culture. It's an enjoyable watch, just think it could have been a better miniseries."

Anthony Jeselnik: Thoughts and Prayers (2015) - Rated 25 May 2025
"On paper, it's such a tightly written special. He's insanely good at setting a joke up and knocking it down with no wasted words. And I appreciate him going to darker punchlines and getting away with them. I just ultimately didn't laugh a ton. Got a lot more uncomfortable, "no way!" kind of laughs. Enjoyed the misdirections, but it leaned more into the shock value than the laugh."

Gen V (2023) - Rated 23 May 2025
"Misses the magic from the Boys. Tries to imitate it, but the added teenage drama doesn't mix as well with the Boys ingredients. It feels a bit too much like a National Lampoon movie at times. And the plot is way too predictable. The powers aren't as interesting. And the social commentary is so heavy handed, not clever. The virus tie in to the Boys universe also feels lazy."

The Boys (2019) - Rated 12 May 2025
"Incredible show. Very funny, and the satire is very well done. However it falls off for season 4. That season introduced uninteresting supes and the political situation strayed from satire to too closely trying to weave in real world dynamics. It felt lazy. But even with that stumble, the show is one of the better ones I've seen recently."

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) - Rated 10 May 2025
"Very creative interactive format. And the meta element about the illusion of choice is fun as you explore other paths. But ultimately it's not a super deep plot."

Conclave (2024) - Rated 04 May 2025
"Beautiful cinematography and has a fun spy/thriller feel throughout. It's also fun going into this mysterious process. However, the final twist comes so out of nowhere and feels recklessly shoehorned in. It changes the whole feel of the movie and drops it from an "incredible" movie to a simply "very good" movie."
