"It grovels at the feminist alter. Men are vilified with the exception of Simon, who is gay. Our true hero is a hard working single mom who's only run in with straight men are a jerk, running off because things are "too real", and Melvin. Melvin fits the bill for how every feminist sees men, damaged goods needing to be fixed. The only women treated poorly in this film is the stereotypical busty, lusting blond. Hell Helen even "cures" Simon with her nude form. Not bad just invokes eye rolling."

"I cannot imagine the horror that would course through me if I awoke inside the body of Rob Schnieder. I had nightmares for days, the most frightening movie of 2002."

"A zombie style outbreak film that uses all of the cliches you'd expect but does so with such fluidity of pace you really enjoy it. The government is a "villain", but its hard to fault them for their desperate attempt to contain the virus."

"What was the moral of this story? Don't lie to get out of a weird blind date because it's mean? Anyone can make friends? Red boots are so CRAZY!? Oh and I love the "moral high ground" taken by Howard(Quall) when he tells Huges(Church) that the people on Huges' side of the fence(reporters) are no better than the people on Howard's side (crazy news followers). Actually, I suppose he was right, both sides of the "fence" were equally sensationalizing news stories that thrived on people's misery."

"Jody Hill parodies the lovable underdog story creating a character, in Ronnie Barnhardt, that initially tricks the audience into rooting for his dreams of glory only to be horrified by the reveals of his true character, and the lengths he will go to in order to prove his worth. You will laugh, but hopefully at the satire in this movie and not because you agree with ANYTHING Ronnie does. When Barnhardt nears the completion of his underdog arc you actually find that you pray he does not succeed."

"You might laugh but I found the general lack of contractions to be one of my favorite things about the film. I need to read the book to see if was an invention of Portis or the Coens. Steinfeld deserves more attention than she is getting, but it is easy to be overshadowed by names like Bridges, Damon, and Brolin (he was only there for 10 mins). Could have done without seeing her as a bitter old bitch though, I would rather remember her as the spunky teen version. Very funny too, darkly funny."

"Entertaining and heartwarming but ultimately nothing more. The acting was fine, not Oscar worthy, but not poor. The little kid was a distraction and could have been toned down a lot. This film handled race relations and the NCAA controversy in much the same way by simply accusing anyone who questioned the motives of the family of being either racist or mean spirited and I think that is pretty dishonest."

"Cera actually pulls off the action star really well. It helps that in the film we are introduced to an alternate reality where situations like his are not that out of the norm. I simply loved this movie. My favorite thing about it though was that we were never "introduced" to the world, we were instead dropped in and expected to keep up. I find it refreshing to be treated like that, as if the director suddenly realized that his audience might actually have some brains. I really hope this does w"

"Watched it in honor of running my 1st Marathon in a week. In that respect the movie is a total insult, he trains himself to run 26.2 miles in 3 weeks? Idiocy, it has taken me 4.5 months. This also plays into his supposed desire to show commitment to something, apparently being committed to the marathon for 3 weeks is enough. They could have played up that commitment with a realistic training timeline. The rest is sweet, predictable, and somewhat funny. Don't expect too much. Also, not fat."

"Many have left poignant, insightful comments about this film's narrative in their mini reviews. They delve into the social commentary evident in McCarthy's work and how well handled it was by the Coen's. Yeah, I noticed all that stuff, but how cool is it seeing Chigurh kill people with his air compressor?"
