85 69% The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) - Rated 27 Sep 2014
"I really enjoyed this movie. Charlie's got way more problems than I did back in the day. I certainly identified with his feeling friendless and alone. Great soundtrack, too!"
85 69% Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) - Rated 28 Dec 2013
"Interesting and enjoyable look at the Greenwich Village folk scene in 1961. The "Llewyn Davis" character (Oscar Isaac) is very loosely based on Dave Van Ronk, who popularized a bunch of acoustic blues classics (most notably "Cocaine Blues"). The film covers a (probably typical) week or so in Llewyn's life, consisting of finding a couch to sleep on, trying to make a living as a musician, and seeming to fail at both. Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake play Jean and Jim."
85 69% The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) - Rated 28 Dec 2013
"While the songs are not especially brilliant, I enjoyed this film. Best part: how the people of HalloweenTown simply never grasped the concept of a present that didn't scare its recipient! Hard to break habits, eh?"
85 69% To Rome with Love (2012) - Rated 17 Feb 2013
"This film has its moments, but I think there were too many stories. The film tries to explore the nature (and pursuit) of fame, but sometimes the gags get in the way. It's a disappointment after "Midnight in Paris," but it was sufficiently entertaining."
90 92% Lincoln (2012) - Rated 05 Jan 2013
"Best thing about this film was the focus on the politics of the era, not the war. Performances were excellent, especially Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones as my favorite Radical, Thaddeus Stevens."

90 92% Stop Making Sense (1984) - Rated 22 Jan 2012

"I smiled through this entire film, and my wife wants to learn more about the Lost Generation in Paris. What more could you ask for?"
