"If they kept the premise but had a different writer and director, then this movie could have likely landed Taraji P. Henson an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Unfortunately, though, this is a Tyler Perry movie through and through, which means that any potential of a more careful exploration of some heavy-handed topics, is squandered by excessive melodrama and bad writing. Also, you'll save yourself from a tedious watching experience if you only watch the first and last 20 min of the movie."
