A History of Violence (2005) - Rated 13 Aug 2007
"Now why didn't this get more Oscar nods? They can't appreciate an original piece of work when they see it? The director gives us an insight into violence, makes us wonder how we'd react, and all this thanks to the unbelievable performance of some damn good actors!!! Viggo seems to nail anything he does, completely becoming his character!"

"This girl is quite a discovery! Hope she keeps it up and in other roles as interesting as this one! A peek into a culture few of us know anything about; we get to observe this Maori village's struggle to maintain in touch with their roots while dealing with the modern world. This through the relationship between a grandfather and his granddaughter, whom he has trouble accepting because she isn't a boy. Compelling story."

"This story is so magical and enthralling that even watching in japanese with subtitles I was completely pulled in! After seeing this and Princess Mononoke, all I can say is sign me up for anything Miyazaki decides to bring us!"

"Although the effects were v. convincing, the story lacked substance! Was too much in bits and pieces from several novels, without a real plotline. They could have chosen the plot from anyone of the 20 (excellent!) books in this series, or gracefully combined 2-3, but they didn't manage to pull it off. Was unconvinced by the relationship between the two main characters which is supposed to be the energy driving the whole series! If you haven't read the books you probably won't notice these fa"

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) - Rated 13 Aug 2007
"Being a major fan of Tolkien's work, took me a while to accept Jackson's view of it. Came round and must say he did an increadible job! Only problem with this chapter is in a couple of things he changed from the original story (an elf army?! Aragorn almost dies?! please!!!) The Ents were v. well done though! And there can never be too much praise for Gollum! Oh, and I didn't care for his portrayal of Faramir (from a noble man who recognises evil when he sees it to someone who falls to tem"

"Incredible acting in a very original story! It's a joy to see what Natalie Portman can do in a role that has some substance to it!"
