While slightly predictable and a little dragged out, it's still funny. Russell Brand basically plays himself, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as he was one of the best parts of this movie.

I don't know what it is about Judd Apatow but he's got a talent for making comedies that actually manage to tell an interesting and oddly heartfelt story while still being funny.

Maybe I just didn't "get it," but this film just felt like a way to get their (admittedly beautiful) music out there. I liked the ending but the rest of it seemed a little pointless.

This really would have been better if it was just an hour and a half of the musical they put on -- that's the real highlight of the film and the only time where it's honestly funny. Rock Me Sexy Jesus is potentially the best musical sequence you will ever see in a film.
