Above average entertaining thriller with a few scares or surprises tossed in.

Beautiful Boy (2010) - Rated 28 Mar 2012
Extraordinarily well done and surprisingly engaging particularly for a movie all about grief. Atypical choice, a sort of seeing from the other side.

Tales of an Ancient Empire (2010) - Rated 26 Mar 2012
Absolute garbage. Wooden acting, crap storytelling, bad cinematography, anemic effects. Pretty girls, not enough boobs. If you like easy target terrible b-movies, this ought to work nicely.

Woman of the Lake (1966) - Rated 23 Mar 2012
Pretty, strong structural film quality, narrative frequently unencumbered by dialogue. Beep boop soundtrack becomes irritating. Lots of making out. Academically interesting.

In Time (2011) - Rated 22 Mar 2012
Fun. Nice little picture of current reality dipped in an action/romance and slightly obscured by a clever idea for a futuristic setting.

Detachment (2011) - Rated 21 Mar 2012
Not the sort of movie anyone wants to see. An important portrait of the crushing burden of caring, while pretending not to, in an institution and society that works against value. Not for the weak. Not entertaining. Great film.

Like watching a DIsney movie. Sweet and well intentioned.

Mars Needs Moms (2011) - Rated 29 Jul 2011
Nice looking. Talented folks doing a great job acting like cartoons. Shrill and frantic. Weak story, simple dialogue, lacks humor. Embarrassing.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) - Rated 27 Jul 2011
After the part one borefest, i couldn't care less about seeing this. Well, it delivered some better action and moved okay. One of the better Potter movies for action/effects. Couldn't really follow the plot except in broad strokes which i suppose indicates my low investment in the series.
