A very gnarly and gross interpretation of the mummy. Like many have said it barely feels like a mummy movie but I guess why does that really matter in the long run. Some real inventive camera tricks and sound nuances to really add to the brutality of it all. You feel yourself suffocating in so many scenes with just these off putting sound isolations and closeups. Almost manages to make its run time worth it with just a sheer barrage of unpleasantness in a way I can’t help but tip the cap. It all makes sense within the world so it’s not just violence for violence sake but still the threads start to unravel a bit in a way that’s pretty unsatisfactory but it’s backed by brutality so you almost forget. Horrendous lead performance tho that basically ruins a lot of the emotional textures they’re wanting to attach but. I think that can be ignorable. Fun time at the movies
