Ode to high school science teachers, about a popular but rather timid high school science teacher who finds himself in a tricky situation, dealing with which, it turns out, requires him to use all his skills as a high school teacher, and eventually also to discover his capacity for courage, and where the difficulties he faces never cause him to lose that innate sense of curiosity about the world and love of knowledge that made him an effective high school science teacher in the first place, the outcome being that, in the end, he returns to being a high school science teacher but in a whole new way.

If you are looking for affirmation of the virtues of high school science teachers – for example, maybe you’re a high school science teacher yourself, or are thinking of becoming a high school science teacher, or perhaps you just feel that high school science teachers don’t get the recognition they deserve – then this is the high school science teacher movie for you! Go high school science teachers, yay!! Also, some kind of underlying religious theme, separate from the celebration of how good high school science teachers are, but maybe also connected to that celebration. Also a kind of remake of THE MARTIAN (2015), but with the addition of a friendly alien.

But just to be clear, the main thing, if you haven’t figured it out by now (it’s a bit subtle, like this review), is that high school science teachers rock: after all, where would be without them, and their high school science teacher teaching ways? Ignorant and disenchanted, that’s where. Now go out there into that big ol’ universe and go do some science, or just feel how amazing it is that we know stuff, like how fast light travels, just the way your high school science teacher would have wanted you to. Go on, right now, off you go, do it!
