Silent Hill

This is not bad, but unfortunately, it's not that good either. Most of this film is honestly held together by the music from the games and Sean Bean. The ending is really good though, and for a movie adaptation, it did great for the visuals. A lot of the subtext is lost however. I am giving this a 7/10 because I enjoyed it for what it was!
Edit: Changed to 4 full stars to reflected the score from my rewatch. The first movie is great!

This is the third time I have watched this and everytime I do, I find myself loving this so much more! Silent Hill is one of those games that I have never played but I am absolutely obsessed with. I really should invest the time and money to finally play them.
As for this movie, I consider it one of the best and most accurate adaptions of a video game. It does not follow any of the games but mashes elements from the first two games together. The slight changes made don't impact the film in a negative way. I can understand why people would hate what they did with Pyramid Head but I think he works as the villain in this story.
If anything, my only complaint with this movie is the child actress at the beginning. I feel the direction given to her was not as good as she became later in the film. Everyone else in this does a great job and I would not like to get stuck in Silent Hill, no sirree!!!
The music in this is amazing and all the soundtracks for the games are chilling and haunt me to my core. Sometimes, it's so peaceful that I forget that I am watching a horror movie. The effects in this are pretty great too and I adore the look of "the other world" in this!
Also, fun fact but Silent Hill was heavily inspired by the real town of Centralia, Pennsylvania. I would absolutely visit there if there was not an infinite amount of toxic gas there! I just need to scrounge up about a grand someday to be able to afford getting all the games and systems!

Its watchable i guess.
honestly, disappointing as a game tie in movie, and even on its own merits, its kind of a meh.
The best of the entire film franchise but obvious...
