Memories of Murder

One of the better films that I have watched from Asian cinema. Unfortunately, I have had a bad experience with this market. They are overly dramatic, have “twists” that are widely unreasonable, and they cannot stick the landing. However, this movie stands out. The story is captivating. The killer is portrayed as some kind of an inevitable force but at the end we realize that he is just an ordinary man. It is well made, it starts off somewhat comedic and towards the end loses all sort of hope and becomes completely dreadful. There are some memorable scenes like when the woman is singing in the field and hears a whistle. Almost paranormal. Good movie. Worth watching. However, I don’t see any rewatch value.
