Zombi Holocaust
This review contains spoilers
A group of scientists travel to an island full of cannibals in search for answers after a series of twisted events reveal a cult of some sort may be responsible.
Story
Poor. Very weak and is obviously just there to progress the movie and give it some sort of reason and progression. The name of the movie is also a bit of a con, seeing as the zombies play a minor part of the story. Cheesy poorly written dialogue.
Acting/Characters
Awful but it's comical. The Characters are completely oblivious to things that are so obvious. Shocking stuff you would never miss and it's just there in the open. The way the actors try to act shocked after made me laugh out loud it's that bad. All of the acting is pretty bad though.
Cinematography/Visuals
I would say the gore effects are excellent for the time. Some pretty visceral stuff. Carries the movie really. There were a couple of design choices that were really bad, but they did make me laugh. The zombies are gash. Just people in ragged clothes with scabby heads.
As for the scenes and camera work, there's nothing to write home about. Not great but I have seen worse.
Soundtrack/Audio
No memorable music. I've just finished watching this movie and can't remember any so. Sound effects are okay I guess other than the zombie moans. They are terrible.
Overall
A pretty terrible movie, but one that has some entertaining qualities if you like decent gore design. It is also quite a funny watch, unintentional as it may be.
Also, keep an eye out for these.
The man that jumps out of a window, that is quite clearly a mannequin when it shows you him falling and the arm pops off when he hits the deck. It then shows you the actual man again mangled in a pool of blood, definitely not missing an arm.
A scene in a cave were the camera pans across a fair few cannibals that all look native and somewhat believable, but about half way there's one in the background that sticks out like a sore thumb, because it's clearly some american white dude dressed in all the getup to fill the numbers.
Amazing.

Mini Review: I'm sure I read somewhere that Zombi Holocaust was made purely to capitalise on the popularity of Dawn Of The Dead and Cannibal Holocaust, which would make sense as this contains both cannibals and zombies and is absolute shite. The plot and acting are terrible, but the zombies… that's a sin. They sound and look awful. It does have some really good gore for the time though, and the acting is so bad it's funny so there's that I guess.
