Sean Combs: The Reckoning
This review contains spoilers
Sean Combs changed the hip hop culture from rap and thug gangsta rap into a mega-commercial commodity. He made himself into a kingmaker / King, and therefore thought he was above any acceptable human behaviour. All because of his ego. His taste for controlling behaviour was first seen as a necessary evil because of his hunger for success, but soon cheating, lying and intimidation were second nature to him. And any one person who called him out on that behaviour, regardless how old of a friend or business partner, they faced ostracism from Diddy's business and blackball from the industry.
This series documents a pattern of behaviour from the early 1990's right up to his judgement of a abuser and beater, a rapist and a POS. It also tells the story of a culture what allowed him to endure eventhough he had DOZENS of lawsuits that put him right in the middle of shootings, abuse and rape.
He brought nothing but misfortune and misery to those around him. It's difficult to see people reminiscing the worst parts of life for the documentary. Lots of people holding trauma and IOUs. The series is occasionally exhausting and imperfect, but it is a ledger full of moral turpitude.
