The Signal
This review contains spoilers
Nonsensical. Three friends are abducted by good old "grey" aliens. But we won't know for a long time. You'll see the main character waking up and then being subjected to questions and silly little puzzles by a man in a hazmat suit. In the mean time the main character tries to escape.
That's most of the movie. You won't get any answers in the mean time. It was so annoying. Here's an example:
Researcher: you can't go out there.
Protagonist: why not?
Researcher: to protect you.
Protagonist: from whom?
Researcher: from them".
Conversations like this is all you get.
In the end you'll find out that humans combined with alien technology are turning other humans into half-human-half alien-tech-beings (simply cyborgs). The researcher was a cyborg all along as it turns out. Final reveal: they are all in space in an alien spaceship with a fake Earth habitat inside of it.
Questions remain: why do humans try to turn other humans into cyborgs? Why don't the aliens do that themselves? And why do we never see the greys? (We know it's the greys because we were given a glimpse of an alien through a tree halfway the movie.)
It all seemed so pointless. They gave you nothing until the very end, meaning you had nothing to enjoy before that.
