Nouvelle Vague
Guess it works way better than expected as another Linklater hangout flick 'disguised' -- not so much, really -- as a period piece that happens to be about the making of a landmark in modern filmmaking and also a vivid snapshot of a time and place when/where artists were like superheroes and young people thought they could change the world. That's why it feels so optimistic and lovely as a love letter not to cinema, but to the people who make films and write/dream about them every second of their lives. Insanely quotable, of course. And what a wondrous production design.
