Pokémon Detective Pikachu

Wow, this movie was bad... It was SO bad. Not Space Jam 2 bad, but WOW, it's bad. The acting was amateurish and hammy, the choreography looked so clunky and unfocused and hindered even further by highly questionable camera cuts that don't make shots flow well into each other, and the attempts at humor... well, at least they were attempts, I'll give them that... mediocre attempts, but attempts nonetheless. The Mr. Mime scene was not as funny as everyone was making it out to be. Probably because it was dragged down by the tame acting. And yet, this is still the best part of the movie, which is just embarrassing given how low of a bar that is. And oh god, the Pokémon. Why did they think that this was the best direction to take their design? No joke, the low effort models that you see in the live-action commercials for the games look way more appealing than the creppypasta shit they went for here. How the hell is eveyone saying that this ISN'T nightmare fuel? I'm sorry, but I have to push back on this. The fact that the people calling Pikachu cute are in the majority is absolutely mind-boggling. What, are spiders cute too? Oh, and the memberberries. While there weren't that many, some of them are just being hamfisted down your throat because they're just so God Damn Delicious. The only reasons that this isn't a 1/10 is because ther were a couple of songs from the OST that I liked, one or two jokes that I lightly chuckled at, and the decent variety of Pokémon that they at least attempted to represent in this movie despite their hideous looks. Maybe they should tone down the number of Sneasels in that city, though.
