This is beautiful made and it makes you feel many emotions just by watching this Anime and all of the characters have their own backstory that just makes you feel a lot of emotions. Angel Beats aims high, not just combining slice of life comedy with action and personal drama, but going beyond to deep spiritual catharsis. It doesn't always go smoothly - after one backstory became over the top tragedy right after broad shenanigans, I was worried. But as the show goes on, it gets its feet on the ground, and shows us silly, colorful, flawed humans healing from life itself, accepting and moving past pain in a wonderfully anime way. By the end, my soul was healed too, just a bit.

I don't think it actually lives up to the love it gets, some bits and pieces seam very "written on the spot", and i dont think the very tragic and emotional ending attempt, was given enough weight previously throughout the series to actually really justify it. Its not the worst however, and has some funny bits. Though some cringe here and there for sure. overall, if you got free time, I would say it is worth your time but you shouldnt expect anything mindblowing. TLDR= Meh, tsallight.

Asinine and derivative, to the point one of the main characters is literally a carbon copy of Haruhi. The attempts at drama and comedy were cringeworthy to say the least, succumbing to awful anime tropes such as over expository writing and dissonance between its general ridiculousness and attempts to be taken seriously. The setting is incredibly retarded, the story is poorly focused and rushed, the art style is generic moeblob trash, etc. It astounds me that a lot people think this is good.
