Quite a few years ago, me and one of my best friends undertook an epic project, namely watching the first episode of as many promising TV shows as possible together. Over the course of couple of years we ranked 150 pilots, and my favorite of the bunch was 'Awake'. And while I do wish that the 13 episodes didn't have a case of the week structure, the astoundingly brilliant premise and Jason Isaacs (hello to Jason Isaacs!) on top form still make this absolutely exceptional. An overlooked must-see.

Boa ideia, porém numa execução medíocre. Atores que dão suporte são todos limitadíssimos... História policial é cheia de clichês e desinteressante. Tudo isso para enrolar o grande segredo que ao final se mostra uma piada de mau gosto. Se está curioso e não tem estômago para digerir a enrolação, assista os episódios 1,2 e em seguida pule para o último.

It occasionally got bogged down in murder-of-the-week episodes and the ending was definitely a little weird, but the concept behind it was really interesting and different, and normally-evil-as-shit Jason Isaacs is actually quite gripping as a very decent and ordinary man.
