There are certain gripes I have with how they've dealt with certain things such as the finale to the Harvey Dent arc but I think this show does a lot of cool things with the narrative conventions of Batman. Stylistically and animation wise it doesn't hit the level of BTAS but I do like how it's playing with various establishments of Batman's mythos putting twists on things like police corruption and self-guilt in a way that's engaging even if it hasn't fully landed on any high.

The animation is well done and there are some interesting ideas here, but ultimately I think the show doesn't quite live up to its potential. A year after watching it, I've just found that it's somewhat forgettable. I'll certainly check out season 2 whenever that happens (season 1 took forever) but I'm not as excited for it.

S1. Features similar stylistic trappings seen in TAS (backgrounds, Batmobile, ...) but far less engaging. It does pick up after mid-season. Animation sometimes stumbles over elements such as cars and side characters. Several characters (Batman, Catwoman, Harvey Dent, Bullock, ...) are depicted in a much more negative light. The positions held by race-swapped characters as well as open lesbianism are hard to believe considering the time setting (1930s-1940s).

The animation and pretty much everything else aside from the voice acting were subpar to barely average. Hugely disappointing.
