Bergman speaks quite candidly, and critically, about his life and work, his successes and failures, his romantic relationships, and his yearning for solitude in his twilight years. None of this will be particularly informative for Bergman fans, but there is a certain fascination in watching him reflect on his life at his home in Faro, a small Baltic island which he immortalized in many of his key films.

Ilk bölümü (Bergman ve Sinema) biraz zayıf buldum. Ama yönetmenin fazla müdahaleci olmadan, Bergman'a kendini içinden geldiği gibi ifade etmesinde özgürlük tanıyan sade anlatımı -ve belki iddiasız yönetimi, geri duruşu- bence yerinde bir tercih olmuş. Iyisi kötüsü bir yana, Ingmar Bergman'ın dünya sinema tarihinin gelmiş geçmiş en iyi yönetmeni olduğunu düşünen biri olarak ben yine de hayranlıkla ve heyecanla izledim.

A severely edited version of Nyrerod's 3-part documentary. It cuts out virtually all of the theater part, which is sorely missed. But it has most of the profound, soul-baring stuff, and it did put me in a mood to watch Bergman.

While there are several revealing moments, there wasn't really much here that surprised me or expanded my knowledge of Bergman in a material way. Even in the most revealing moments, I found myself shaking my head along and saying, 'of course.' That said, he's still a compelling individual, and hearing him talk about his films is always a treat. Watching this only confirms how much his films are an extension of him.
