Probably the most network TV-feeling sitcom I’ve yet seen on any streamer. Workplace sitcom, bright lighting, broad punchlines, perfectly diverse cast, TV-14 content, TV Writing 101 A-plot / B-plot / C-plot episode structure, disconnected episodes outside of will they or won’t they romance, etc. Very much feels like it should be on NBC or ABC at 7:30 on Wednesdays.

Why would a tiny video store have that many employees working at the same time?

Hey, I enjoyed it for what it is. I do think this would have fit better on network TV rather than Netflix, but ignoring that, I think the cast was pretty solid, and that cast made the show enjoyable. It's not the most laugh out laugh hilarious sitcom there is, but I will say I was a bit disappointed when it didn't get a second season. I was interested in these characters and where they would go next.

Funny at times, but mostly just odd. Also feels a bit ironic that the platform that killed Blockbuster created a show based on it.

Why wasn't it set in Bend, Oregon like the actual real last Blockbuster?

Tries too hard to be Superstore, forgets that what made Superstore good was the relevant slices of life and employees suffering from retail working life. Doesn't work when it's done from the point of view of a boss, and even less so when the badly writen romance plot takes over the comedy. One season was enough, I'm done.
