Code Geass manages to be unrelentingly stupid and completely unaware of this at the same time. Though that lack of self-awareness works in some cases ie The Room, Geass is convoluted as all hell in a way that is just infuriating. The show starts strong with a good premise -- what if Death Note had robots -- and then bottoms out at around episode five, before shocking the world with its greatest twist of all: that it can somehow get worse. Highly recommended if you're a huge idiot!

Code Geass is extremely pretentious and its attempts at trying to get the audience to believe Lelouch is a genius is laughable when the means to do so are often juvenile and rely on ridiculous contrivances, such as the chess metaphor or the inconsistent geass powers. Otherwise much of the show consists of vapid anime cliches that clash with the shows already ham-fisted drama with lousy attempts at grey morality. It's oddly fun to dissect this show and make fun of it, though. I'll give it that.

Maybe had too high expectations but was left very disappointed. Absurdly fast paced, to the point where events that felt like they were supposed to be tragic were barely given any time to be processed. Rarely any quiet scenes, was almost overstimulating. Overall concept was cool, would have liked more lore about geass origins. animation was good, love mechs obviously. Ending was predictable, and had some annoying ass pulls. Overall still pretty fun just nowhere near what it is hyped to be.

A somewhat uneven series, Code Geass is kinda meh at first but then ramps things up towards an awesome finale for the first season. The second season, however, does not immediately follow things up and meanders for a bit. However, the second half is balls-to-the-wall dumb in some good and bad ways. Overall, I enjoyed the series -- thought it was pretty good.
