My favorite televised Doctor Who "thing" while the series was in limbo, this is a parody that truly loves its source material. Atkinson is pitch-perfect as The Doctor played for laughs alone, as is Jonathan Pryce as The Master. It all gets a bit silly in the end, but that's what Comic Relief is all about: getting a bit silly for charity. Early proof that Moff was the right man to take the reins from Russel T.

The people of the BBC are, if anything, quite good at making fun of their own franchises, sometimes with quite a bit of imagination. The shapeshifting time-travelling doctor is put for a spin here with much talent involved. Jonathan Pryce, Rowan Atkinson and Jim Broadbent shine, and watch out for a few surprises.

It's a decent laugh. I'd love Jonathan Pryce to get a go playing the baddie on New Who

Steven Moffat's first televised piece of Doctor Who revealed many things about how his tenure as showrunner would go; playing with the idea of regeneration, going to The Last Doctor Story and beyond, creating a more complex relationship between the Doctor and the Master, and, er, fraught gender politics that don't age well.
