Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable

Dave Chappelle has an unusually strong interest in history for a standup comedian, which he uses to good effect, but that interest has its limit, which for this viewer is shown by the ending, even though the latter will undoubtedly be celebrated by many or most of his fans. For me, it does tend to confirm that some jokes he has made in the past were already indicative of an unfortunate pattern in his way of thinking. Nevertheless, there are good things, for those who are not bothered.

Oof! Quite a drop in quality. I've got some standup mates who thought he did so with his last special, and though I disagree, I'd say that he has dropped the ball big time here. It seems adding jokes and riffs to his story-telling isn't of interest to him anymore, which leads to a thoroughly dull, unfunny special resembling more a homeless man talking about good times. If the only part of your comedy special that makes me laugh is a photo of you hanging with Saudi Arabians, you've fucked up.

Not his best special. He doesn't have that "fire" anymore. I still love Dave and think he is the best comedian of this generation. I do think hes become a little stale because his life is just less interesting now.
