Neither bad nor enjoyable. I rarely watch it for educational purposes: not to forget French.

Yes, the plotlines are very telenovela-y and get more contrived as the seasons progress. But its genius--and it is real genius--is in the character portrayals of the various agents, actors, and directors that populate the show. Having spent much my professional life working in opera, theatre, film, and television, I know ALL of these people--the pretentious blowhards, the liars, the snakes, the cowards, and divo/as addicted to their own drama. In many respects, it's practically a documentary.
