Dota: Dragon's Blood

1st season is extremely good, but gets a little too bleh in later seasons. Still not bad in the latest seasons, but gets sidetracked.

The story and characters feel so generic it’s like what you’d have gotten if you plugged “DARK FANTASY - DRAGONS - KNIGHT - PRINCESS - ADVENTURE” into an AI plot generator. But on the other hand the presentation is impressive if you’re a fantasy nerd such as myself; animation (from Legend of Korra’s Studio Mir) isn’t quite on the level of Arcane but it’s a damn sight better than fantasy cartoons used to look for most of my life.

If you play the games (I do) you will enjoy it much more. The story is very cleverly written. Take the time to understand the universe a bit, and you will be amazed by the beautiful characters and their developments. The cosmic aspect of the series is amazing really. I really liked it.

With an incoherent start and a generic overall feel, Dragon's Blood does decent work to establish its characters and world but can't quite escape its flaws during its 1st season. Decent if a bit forgettable, but I look forward to it getting better.
