I'm probably more emotional about this show than I should. Although it's a friggin' MTV show it's sooo good. I love the alternative highschool where misfits are the popular ones. I love how the writers managed to portray a confused teenage girl who's finding her way to her sexuality. And I love the - sometimes over the top - storylines. When they're not over the top they're very real thanks to the great acting of Rita Volk and Katie Stevens (yeah, I love those two as well)

For something not aimed at my age or gender (perhaps not even at my sexual orientation), I find it fairly cute and watchable, at least after the rough first few episodes. It has a nice energy and wit to it. It's not really laugh-out-loud funny at all, I watch it more as a lighthearted half-hour teen soap (and like teen soaps, it's when it's laser-focused on the romance that it's weakest).

Faking It is stuffed with narcissistic characters and so much relationship drama, that I'm surprised I watched it at all. Fortunately the witty writing, well-portrayed characters and subversion of setting, all make the show a compelling comedy. The "shipping" that ruins so many other shows works here because relationships are central to the show, and the characters are multi-dimensional enough to pull them off. Volk is the MVP.
