Gurren Lagann

An interesting piece on masculinity. Funny and stupidly enjoyable.

Takes the idea of "burning shonen spirit" and says, why is this important? What are its problems? What problems does it address? What does it say about humanity? And then answers those questions in loving detail as part of one of the best examples of the genres it's deconstructing, ending up with a big arrow pointing towards "what is non-toxic masculinity". Its fingerprints are all over Studio Trigger's works, for the better, and they expand on it beautifully. Could be more gay tho

the good shit. nails the emotional beats and action. some reflections on human strength and threat, as well as masculinity

Great show. Both in it's display of spirit and animation. My favourite. A couple infamous episodes bring it down though.

JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!!?!?!

Bettered by many other anime in almost every single way. Doesn't grab your attention, wouldn't even bother to pass the time with this one.

if you don't love this show you can fuck right off to hell
