Cheesy as all hell. It has that biopic thing you see mostly in spoofs where they are all famous faces in impossibly distant roles - you give Owen a cigar and he looks more like Groucho Marx. There are some cool scenes but at 2 1/2 hours, it's simply not worth the effort.

The acting is strong and there are some good scenes, but much too little action and story to fill more than 2 1/2 hours of runtime.

Kaufman goes for an unnecessary epic scope, when the central story on Hemingway and Gellhorn's marriage is strong enough to carry the film. What's left in the end is a very good insight on Martha Gellhorn's points of view, motivations and inspirations. The rest of themes are left wandering with a sense of mediocrity.

This drama was a little flat. I did enjoy the acting from the leads, Owen and Kidman, but even their star power couldn't cover this lengthy story about the love between Ernest Hemingway and famous WWII war correspondent Martha Gellhorn. I found myself to be often bored and checking how much time was left on the movie. At 2 and half hours, I found myself checking the time a lot. I wouldn't watch this unless you are just a huge Hemingway fan and want some insight to his life.

terribly flat; great material and good acting ruined by stupid script and all over the place storytelling...

Superb performances from both Owen and (especially) Kidman keeps overlong, scattershot biography/historical drama interesting, though director Kaufman rams home his metaphorical points with too heavy a hand, especially in the first half ("blood on my hands", the literally explosive love scene). Clumsy insertions of the actors into genuine archival footage look absurd at best; despite its flaws, the subject matter is inherently interesting enough to make the final result suitably compelling.

Describe el periodo de vida de Hemingway cuando conoce a Marta Gellhorn, pasado por eventos bélicos de gran importancia en el destino del hombre. Además, lo vincula con sus obras como: Adiós a las armas y Por quién doblan las campanas.
