a really excellent sense and execution of witty and dry humor. kind of uses "asshole main character" but it's about an 8 year old so it rolls pretty smooth. good musical bits and transition tracks. some later season stuff is eh

The first season is sort of rough, but Home Movies ditched with the nuclear family and precocious childhoods to create something both funny and uniquely insightful.

This show has quite possibly the most awful looking art style and animation I've seen on an animated series put on TV. Normally that's not something I care about in a comedy, but when the comedy is so brutally unfunny it's hard to really appreciate its other qualities. They do have good setups and ideas for jokes, but often times they hang onto the idea of that joke without really making much out of it and the novelty of that joke ends up expiring pretty quickly and painfully.

First two seasons deserve a higher score (season two being my favorite) then it sort of plateaued into something less remarkable, still never less than fun.
