I felt hoodwinked here as I thought this was going to be a noir murder mystery from all of the marketing and it turned out to be about a girl trying to find out her ancestry? Snore. Gave up during the second episode and I rarely do that.

I almost gave up on it after the first couple of episodes, but stuck it out and was rewarded with some better episodes in the later half of the run. Chris Pine was solid throughout, as was the young lady playing Fauna Hodel. Overall, I think my issues with it were largely due to a lack of pace, but that was remedied somewhat in the final few eps.

Chris Pine and India Eisley definitely help you buy into the central mystery of who is Fauna Hodel and what is the dark secret surrounding her family. Tension does elevate through out but the ending felt sort of anti climatic given we knew the true nature of Hodel before the final episode even began. Fine performances all around again particularly by the aforementioned Pine and Eisley. While stylish and a good mystery it does not quite stack up with other series.
