Jane Eyre

It's an absolutely faithful adaption, barring a few changes which don't impact the story in a negative fashion. However I find the story of Jane Eyre to be one of the most contrived and repulsive stories ever written. Effectively this mini-series was doomed from the get-go for me. However, I can't deny it does have wonderful sets and all the characters are as I imagined them, that is to say incredibly shallow and over-the-top.

A faithful and well conceived adaptation, the costumes and scene settings look great. I feel its biggest downfall is the clunky dialogue that takes place between Jane and Edward on a regular basis, which tries to create the tension of their evolving relationship, but for the most part merely creates a disjointed awkward feeling. However for fans of the period and fiction it's well worth seeing.

The more time goes on the more problems I have with the story of Jane Eyre, but it's still rather well made.

I usually like these costume drama miniseries, even the ones where I know almost nothing about the source material (Jane Eyre falls into that category), but I found this one to be merely average.
