Joe Pera Talks with You

I think this wonderful man might have found a new genre of post-cynicism comedy. It doesn't shy away from grim reality but finds beauty and humour in the mundane. I adore this show.

although he ends up leaning too far into the wholesome shtick in the later epsisodes, others make for some great deadpan humor, especially the grocery and lunch ones

I get why people like Ted Lasso and consider it a breath of fresh air, but Joe Pera is undeniably the more genuine wholesome anti-cynical spokesman of quiet happiness. A show full of dad jokes between comfy dads who are all happy to laugh at your dad jokes too, stranger. Your point in life factors a lot here: I would’ve hated this as a teen but utterly love it as a thirty-something.

Wow did I miss the boat for finding anything redeeming to this milquetoast bland commentary and delivery disguised as a show.
