George Orr is an otherwise ordinary man who experiences extraordinary dreams. When the visions in his head seem to be altering reality, the anguished Orr consults psychiatrist Walter Haber, which is the first of many miscalculations on the part of the protagonist. Dr. Haber intends to harness George's "talent" to bring his own peculiar notion of Utopia to full fruition. Will the fabric of the space-time continuum unravel as Haber plots and plans and Orr's dreams become more and more frightening? (moviefone.com)

Rather forgettable flick, which wasn't necessarily poorly made, although the effects are certainly nothing special for a movie of it's time. I read somewhere that the director never even read the novel it's based on (if that's true shame on him).

A somewhat disappointing remake. In this version, Haber isn't a power-driven idealist but a flat-out manipulative jerk from the beginning, and Orr seems much less proactive and interested in the course of life. I also felt it was a letdown that all the apocalyptic stuff and the aliens were left out. The production design is outstanding, though, and Straithairn is simply perfect.

Not as good as the original (wish it would've kept the last 1/4 or so from the 1980 version)
