A very interesting discussion and presentation of the Lumière films, and in particular when Langlois talks about the shift that occurred from Monet's 1877 paintings of the Gare St-Lazare to the cinematic arrival of the train at La Ciotat.

Interesting listening to Jean Renoir & Henri Langlois talk about their impressions of the pioneering work of the Lumière Brothers. Only a simple chat with a bunch of Lumière films being shown in between the illustrate what the two were talking about, but you get a fairly rich understanding of those early films.
